Omar Hussain, nicknamed the Supermarket Jihadi, is a British jihadi in Syria. He is called Supermarket Jihadi because he was once a security guard at Morrisons in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom. Last week, 27-year-old Hussain sent a message to would-be fighters via his Telegram channel which read: ‘Come to Libya, come to Nigeria, and be part of those who build the Khilafah [Islamic caliphate] with your skulls, bones and blood.’ Shortly after sending out this message, he was threatened by ISIS's official media wing for sending out unauthorized messages on an encrypted app called Telegram, which is now the social media platform of choice for extremists.




The threat of swift retribution from ISIS stated that, "You have been previously informed and prohibited from publishing your material, and on any platform. You must immediately close down the above mentioned pages. Further violations will come with serious repercussions and will be dealt with swiftly." Despite this warning, Daily Mail(UK) reports that Hussain is back on Telegram, now calling himself Repunzel, and encouraging an undercover Mail on Sunday reporter to go to Libya. When asked why his previous channel had been shut down, he said: ‘Internal politics.’ He added: ‘I am forced to say dawlah [IS] is perfect without errors. We invite all ikhwa [brothers] here 2 perfection where there is no dhulm [injustice]. Akhi [my brother] get the hint.’
