Welcome to FUTminna, They thought it was a joke when they said students with 1.5 and below are going home. Nowadays school isn't meant for everyone no matter your practical knowledge, You can still be successful without going to school. Even more than the majority that went to school. But as long as you choose to opt into a university you must prepare yourself academically.

That's why many of us run to Cotonou and Ghana to study. Because its easy getting admission over there.

Yes, this is very serious, and that's how it ought to be in other schools.

What social media have caused.... It's a shame that this new generation Nigerian students no longer read. My 18 yr old nephew, who is preparing for WAEC, have never opened his notebooks to read; he knows the latest tracks and their lyrics, the latest football transfer and scores and spend his time trying to look good. He is banking on 'expo' he will receive during the examinations. It's so sad that schools encouraging this.

It's unfortunate that hardworking parents are just wait their hard-earn money on unserious kids.

It's so sad that Nigeria have no future.

The best report I've ever read about any university, that 460 100 level students to go for poor academic performance. Other universities should tell us what they are doing with the dullards in their schools;managing them for the day of trouble?

I blame GEJ...

For what? Did he admit them into school, wrote the exam for them or advised them not to take their primary assignment serious or what?
So, you are one of those that blame their failures on another person?
Shake my head for you!

Imagine, they could not make a 1.5 CGPA ?? this is what happens when dullards get into school through backdoors/runs or whatever and those that merit the admission are not given the admission because they don't have money to bribe, they don't know either the registrar or DVC, Very shameful. The brilliant ones are there languishing at home, writing jamb, post-ume every year. I think NUC should investigate how these students got admission in the first place. If the school has erred in the admission policy, they should be sanctioned.

And again the issue of Jamb exam result expiring after one year or academic section should also be visited, at least the result should last for 3years.

You know, about 1.6million or more students keep writing Jamb every year and the bitter truth is tertiary institutions in Nigeria cannot even accommodate half the number of those that sit for Jamb every year.

When Jamb brought out their last admission policy, it was indeed a welcome development but tutorial centers across Nigeria kicked against it because if it stands, the amount of student that comes for tutorials will drop and that would result to a drastic fall in their income. I think the new minister of education needs to revisit/revise that policy. Whereby candidate with high scores if not taken by their university of choice, Jamb as the authority to send/post them to another school. The addition to the policy should state "Posting them to another school should be made optional when filling Jamb form online"

I so agree with u there, when I was in school, I often wondered how some people passed jamb and post jamb. guess that's life anyway.

For those of you who doesn't know anything about Federal University of Technology Minna should just shut up. The school is one of the hardest and most stressful school in Nigeria. No student would like to continue in that school after his/ her 1st year: no social life, no time for your self, just reading all day, the only school you will read harder to get "F".
FUT Minna gives admission easily by Merit not by backyard runs, and after you gain admission there you must surely say "how had I know I would have choosed another school ".
