Did Genevieve Nnaji's Road To Yesterday Bomb At The Box Office? by Orikinla(m): 10:25am On Jan 20, 2016
Genevieve Nnaji's over hyped movie "Road To Yesterady" was premiered last November and I was expecting it to attract millions of her fans to the cinemas. But the hype seems to have disappeared as it appeared and there is no news on how the movie performed at the cinemas in Nigeria.

If Ayo Makun's "30 Days in Atlanta" made over N170 million at the box office, then Nollywood super star Genevieve Nnaji's "Road To Yesterday" should break the record. But I am really surprised that the movie is not the talk of the town, except that Genevieve Nnaji has been nominated for Best Actress Award in the 2016 AMVCA for her role in the drama that Pulse called an epic love story and I was wondering if the writer forgot the meaning of the word "epic". Nigerians have their way with misusing superlatives out of context with the subject matter.

If "Road To Yesterday" bombed at the box office, then something has gone wrong with Nigerian fans of Nollywood movies.
Genevieve Nnaji called "The Box Office Queen" by another local writer is famous enough to pull crowds of millions of her fans that there should have been a stampede at the few cinemas in Nigeria.
So what happened?

It is really important to find out what is wrong with the intellectual psyche of Nigerians on their abnormal attitude to Nigerian movies. In terms of critical appreciation, "Road To Yesterday" should pull crowds to see the movie in Nigeria and abroad. Even the millions of Nigerians in America and the U.K should be excited to see any good movie featuring the most celebrated stars of Nollywood. But they have been ignoring Nigerian movies. Strange people? Yes.
Majority of Nigerians are queer indeed no matter their location on earth. And it is not funny.
