You are either living within the prism of a hunter or farmer. If you are a farmer you are a gatherer. A farmer sows seed, cultivates it and wait for harvest. For a hunter, the story is different. His mission is: go into the bush and kill as many animals as possible. A hunter does not possess the patience to cultivate.

When you are operating with the mindset of a farmer, you'll know that you ought to sow before before you reap. Things rarely come to you as surprises because you've sown the seeds; they are well planned out!

When you have a farmer's mindset, you don't sell your tomorrow for your today. No! But when you are configured as a hunter, you don't see anything wrong with sacrifying your destiny just to satisfy your temporary needs. Esau had that mentality. My bible narrates to me that he came back from hunting, and was so farmished. That was when his bro, Jacob asked him if he could sell his birthright (destiny) for a pot of porridge. Guess what? The man, Esau, could not resist. He couldn't stand the temporary pangs of hunger and thus, he sold his birthright that gave him possession of his father's inheritance!

Pheww!!! That's a hunter's mindset. Perhaps you are on the verge of selling a valuable part of yourself; your future, just to satisfy today's desires. When you give a hunter anything, he looks at how it's going to assuage his present desire but give it to a farmer and he'll look for ways to cultivate and multiply it.

A farmer multiplies/keeps and has foresight but a hunter, mba. He kills! He only acts based on instant gratification. You may think that a farmer is not "sharp" and does not know "whatsup". He is not like the hunter who can go into the bush, kill plenty antelopes and then "enjoy himself".

The farmer persistently but upwardly grows his seeds. Some day, the hunter would go to the bush and return with sad tales of his failed expedition because he killed the animals without recourse to the fact that the number of animals keeps depleting as he hunts daily.

On the flipside, the farmer, as he continues daily, multiplies the seeds. The hunter might ridicule him as a "juu guy" initially but then as an igbo adage says: after the race, you count the mileage; the hunter would go hunting but since he is not multiplying but killing the animals, he would later return to the farmer for food.

Little wonder throughout my bible, God often used farmers/agriculturists to illustrate several time tested principles. It is most disheartening that today's society, is one that emphasises the hunter attitude. You see people ready to do anything just to "make it".

Much value is placed on instant gratification. Only few want to plan. Hmmm. Everyone wants to be the next "happening guy/babe" but finds it unnecessary learning the ropes of cultivation (seed, time and harvest)/planning.

LIFE ACT: That action you are about taking, is it for immediate gratification (the hunter's mindset) or as a seed into your future (the farmer's mentality)?

MEDITATION POINT: "Do not be deceived, God cannot be mocked. Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he reap"- Galatians 6:7
