There is a popular saying that "he who comes to equity must come with clean hands" Another saying also says "those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones".

That having said, when does it warrant one to attack a party and when to be silent, This article is focused on the present travails of Olisa Metuh, the national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), known for his fiercest attack of the then opposition party, the now ruling party: All Progressive Congress. It will be recalled the media battle that transpired between the erstwhile Publicity Secretary of the APC now Nigeria's Minister of Information: Lai Mohammed.

It isn't a hidden fact that Olisa Metuh was a pain on the APC party and the new Government in his constant criticism of the party before and after the 2015 general elections. This won him some die-hard fans both within and outside the party who admired his courage and doggedness, but that cannot be said to be the same now as revelations from the EFCC have indicted him of having partaken in the misuse of Government funds meant for the procurement of arms for the Military in their fight against the insurgency in the North-East region.

It has been proved of how he collected close to 400 million naira from the man in the centre of the arms scandal, Sambo Dasuki the former National Security Adviser. Though he has stated that the funds he collected was used for an undisclosed work he did for the Ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan.

Presently, he has been granted bail with certain conditions. The question many are asking is; was the offence committed by Olisa Metuh worse than previous political or Government officials who have been known to have embezzled far more than what Olisa is been accused of?

The answer may be No, but what is interesting about Metuh's political travails lies in his previous open attack on the APC-led Government which has been trying to cleanse the country of the corruption that has been entrenched upon her, a vice he was also part of. It was bad he had accused the Government of not doing enough in both improving the state of the economy and the fight against the dreaded Bokoharam sect, when he had been responsible for the lack of weapons needed by the military to fight the insurgents.

Perhaps, this may explain why the Federal Government and the EFCC seems to be taking his case seriously, many have questioned the rationale behind his been handcuffed on his way to the court, an action that was not carried out on Sambo Dasuki, the main actor behind the arms scandal as well other previous political officials indicted in the past for corrupt practices while in office.

Had Olisa Metuh been less critical of the APC-led Government even though his post as the publicity secretary required that, perhaps his present ordeals would have been less. But no, he chose rather to criticize them fiercely forgetful of the fact that he also had a dark skeleton hidden in his cupboard waiting to be unveiled. He should have lied low like other past corrupt Government officials who are rarely seen and not heard in the political scene.

He also faces the chance of been removed from his post as the Publicity Secretary of the same party whom he stood for and defended, this is as some members of the People Democratic party (PDP) are trying to disassociate themselves from him. This may further render him politically irrelevant sooner or later.

The lesson in Metuh's travail, can be summarized in a local saying : A black pot shouldn't call a Black kettle black, until it is has gotten rid of its own dirt.

There is need for an open trial of dasukigate so that we can hear from the horse's mouth. There is more to the names already mentioned that is why buhari is opting for a secret trial. However, he benefitted from the fraud with 2 bullet proof jeeps.

Stop making it look like Buhari is going after people who are speaking about his govt. These guys have our stolen monies in their accounts and where rightly followed upon by EFCC.

Olisa Metuh has not committed any offence

He has not abused his office in any way, he did not spend money belonging to Nigerians of which he came in contact with due to being an elected official

Rather he is a spokesman of a political party and while the source of the "400 million" may be questionable he should not be in trouble because Dasuki misused money belonging to his office.

If an armed robber is arrested you do not go round arresting every car salesman the armed robber bought something from.

Metuh might stay in jail for a few years but eventually it will be established that he has committed no offence and should not have been arrested at all!
