Methodist Church Enugu Arch Diocese Dedicates Its New Hospital by Appili(m): 1:13am On Jan 26, 2016
The Methodist Archbishop of Enugu Most Reverend Barrister C. N. Edeh has been commended for the gigantic role he has been playing in the diocese especially in the construction and completion of Wesley Specialist hospital in Enugu.
His Eminence and Prelate Methodist Church of Nigeria Dr. S. K. C. Uche made the commendation at the dedication of the hospital in Enugu.
The Prelate notes that Methodist Arch Diocese of Enugu is becoming a pacesetter for all the dioceses in Nigeria in terms of its onerous achievements.
Dr. Uche enjoined the ministers of God to continue to exhibit transparency, accountability and diligence in the discharge of their duties so that the congregation will have confidence in them and work in God’s vineyard.
While soliciting the support of government to the hospital, the Prelate said the relationship between the church and the government should be symbiotic.
In a remark, the Enugu state Governor lfeanyi Ugwuanyi represented by the Deputy Mrs. Cecelia Ezeilo commended the church for towing the line of the state government in making health care delivery accessible to the people.
In view of this, the Governor stated that that was the reason why the state government had resolved to establish Ultra modern hospitals in the three senatorial zones of the state.
Governor Ugwuanyi urged the hospital management to ensure that the hospital renders the desired services to the people saying that the state government will continue to support this laudable project.
In an address, the host, Methodist Arch- Bishop of Enugu Diocese Most Reverend Barrister C.N. Ede said the establishment of the hospital would serve as a sort of evangelization as it was aimed at reducing diseases and sicknesses in the society.
Archbishop Ede appealed to the Enugu State Government to fulfill its promise of sending staff to the hospital and equally support them with equipment and funds to enable them take off smoothly.
He indicated that the hospital need an emergency and accident wards immediately and requested members of the church and other public spirited individuals to donate generously to enable purchase ambulance, provide portable water, generator and other equipments.
Archbishop Ede commended the Prelate for his support to the diocese and urged him not to reliant.
He expressed appreciation to some members of the church who supported in the establishment of the hospital both financially and otherwise including the Chairman Radio, Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union.(RATTAWU) FRCN Enugu chapter Mr. Foster Eze.
Speaking on the occasion, the Bishop Rock Family Church Enugu Dr. Obi Onubuogu extolled the leadership quality of Arch Bishop Ede saying that he would take the message to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN ) Enugu state chapter for them to give their support.
Some dignitaries who attended the event such as the Enugu State Commissioner for health Dr. Samuel Ngwu, DFID representative Dr. Nwobodo and the Caretaker Committee Chairman Enugu North Local Government pledged their unalloyed support to the hospital.
The event was well attended by various Ministers of God serving and retired Bishops including the former Bishop of the Diocese, Dr.M.U.Ogo.
