To be clear, the purpose of the initial thread is neither here nor there for me.

But is the op suggesting- through the back door- that we, the people shouldn't hold elected officials accountable to their word (and thence query their integrity) simply because there were better times in the past?
Someone told you tough times are coming. With full knowledge- and previous experience, you still go ahead to make outlandish promises. Why the hue and cry? To avoid being asked questions about your competence?

We all recall the governors- ably led by our incumbent transport minister- dragging the then federal govt to court over 'our money'. After turning deaf ears to all pleas to save for tomorrow, these same people are now up in arms, ruling via the ever-reliable scape-goat principle?!

History truly belongs to the victors...

Oh, and lest I forget, you don't plug a leak by leaving the tap and mopping up spilled water- or crude.

You plug a leak by getting an APPROPRIATE cap and- well, plugging the darn thing.
If in doubt, go ask bp what cost them a $12 billion fine.

How did you go from the topic- the incumbent govt's integrity and competence- to STILL ALLEGED (at least till we get our very first conviction) looting by the erstwhile govt?
