Big Fresh Tomatoes Sold For N1000 A Basket In Anambra. What Is Happening? by Nobody: 1:28pm On Jan 31, 2016 |
Wow. i need explanation. For the past two weeks, a basket of tomatoes have been sold for 1k (wholesale price) . offloading , payment for land takes it to N2500. At the retail end in the market, we buy half painter bucket between 150 and 200 naira. Big fresh derika level tomatoes. I then imagine how much its been sold in mile 2 now- maybe 500 naira. Please any explanation to this? Is Dangote responsible for this? |

The sad thing is that after a while prices would sky rocket because there are no logistics to handle post harvest storage that should cover the off-season. The imported Apples we buy in Nigeria all year round at the same price were mostly harvested and stored a year earlier! 1 Like |

This is the season of surplus. The northerners plant using irrigation. its usually like that every year. Price will start picking up by Middle of March or ending because they would have exhaust all they plant. 1 Like |
