There are three things wrong with the analysis.

1. Oil prices started to decline before Buhari came into office, in fact from January 2014 to May 2015, we witnessed 100% reduction in the price of oil per barrel.

2. Instead of the government in charge to start cost saving measures and increase efficiency across all sectors, what we witnessed was more extravagant spending and waste of resources.

3. The Naira was devalued once already and we saw the resulting consequences, rather than devaluation we should be discussing diversification. Over reliance on oil and complete abandonment of other resources is what got us in this mess.

Finally things are going to get very bad before we start seeing positive results, if Buhari had the chance to govern for a longer period of time in the 80s, Nigeria would have been saved from the corrupt and greed which emerged after the coup.

We are happy under Goodluck regime

The last time, all his attempts to revive the economy was thwarted by a coup, this time around there won't be any coup to abort the change he brings in spite of the economic slump.

Nobody can say if he would have succeeded the last time or would fail this time till 2019.

To help the present predicament,the way forward for any sincere government Is to revive agriculture sector as alternative source of for ex earning.
However ,
Buhari instead of allocating fund for the revatalisation of the much talked about agriculture sector,
He allocated 40 billion to Chad basin in search of oil wich is produced at almost at a loss
And ministry of information got 39 billion while the agricultural sector got a mockery sum of 29 billion in buhari proposed budget.
What is th sincerity of this government in all of this economic downturn.
Sincerity of purpose is the bane of this administration.
