depending on the version of cpanel u use, some will ask you if you want to view hidden files the very moment you click on file manager. a javascript borderless popup. if urs doesn't then use any ftp software, ftp will reveal ur dot files. |

Interesting. The only time i experienced this was, when i created an htaccess file, and then went back to the control panel to make some changes. The control panel just cleared all my previous stuffs. . . |

webdezzi is right, when trying to open the legacy file manager in cpanel click/tick the "Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)." and you should see it. anyways here's my own question: so my 404 redirects are beautiful for traedays.com and traedays.com/blog on firefox (they redirect to my homepage). but on IE and Google chrome they don't work. i read up the thing about having your custom 404 error pages being larger than 512 bytes for it to work on IE and google chrome but the thing is that i don't want to create a 404 page, i just want to redirect. is there a way for me to make this work on IE and google chrome and not just firefox? |

don't worry guys i just threw the question to my domain host support hostgator and they solved it. fault was mine: my index page is actually my error page and it was less than 512bytes. It appears that Internet Explorer has a feature that will not show custom error messages if the size of the error page is less than 512 bytes, so to work around this I padded your index.htm file with a few HTML comments (these comments don't show up and don't alter your site in any way). If you have any more issues please don't hesitate to contact us. he just added 3 lines of this Comment: <!--This is a comment. Comments are not displayed in the browser--> Hostgator support rocks! customer service at it's peak. that sadly is something you can't get with a Naija webhost, i guess cos they're mainly one man biz sha |
