We have gotten to a point in our national life when we must stop being dependent on oil revenue but kick-start our ailing economy by encouraging local production.

Everyday, tons of Denim (Jean) products are imported into our markets. The Denim Fabric was an invention of a German/American named Levi Strauss. Have you ever asked yourself, "who created the Adire Fabric?"

Until we tell ourselves the truth, we shall continue to lag behind. Why can't our local designers compete favourably on the runway in Milan and Newyork using our Adire and Ankara Fabrics? The truth is we don't appreciate our own.

Ghana promotes her Kente. Why can't we promote our local fabrics thereby creating jobs in the hinterlands of Akwete?

It is time to pause and ponder.
