An unnamed police inspector may be courting trouble after allegedly stealing a computer printer in Delta state, The Punch reports.

The police officer attached to ‘A’ division police station in Asaba, the Delta state capital, was said to have courted trouble after allegedly stealing computer printer which had been initially recovered from robbery suspects.

The principal of Illah Mixed Grammar School, Illah, was said to have raised the alarm over the possibility of the theft by the police inspector and petitioned the police commissioner over the alleged occurrence.

A copy of the petition dated October 12, 2015, showed that the police inspector allegedly stole the computer printer recovered from robbery suspects.

Mrs Esther Ilobi, who wrote the petition, noted that there was a burglary at a house where the school’s property were kept in Illah Community for security purpose and it was reported at the station.

According to the petition, the items which included desktop computer, flat screen monitor, Keyboard, computer printer and a generator, had been stolen by the thieves and were recovered through the help of an investigating officer, Ms Ndidi Ejeh, who was later moved to Lagos.

It was however gathered that after the recovery of most of the stolen items, the printer was missing, and the inspector claimed he did not know where it was.

He alleged that it may have been taken away by the former IPO in the case before judgment was given.

But in a swift response, the police chief in the state, Alkali Usman, noted that the petition “is already receiving attention, the police will ensure a thorough investigation in the petition.”

undecided this is what happens when the job that requires people with dignity, self discipline and people who are passionate about their job, are replaced with people who only sees it as an alternative to put food on their table.
