Kind-hearted Police Officer In Ibadan

Yesterday i was on my way to meet up with an urgent appointment when i ran into an accident scene. An okada man just hit a little girl that was hawking on the road along Dugbe. I stop and rushed down to the scene to help carry the girl to a hospital people gather there the girl was bleeding serious from the deep cut she had on her forehead while the okada man too was Languishing in pains as he had dislocation on his arm and also bleeding. I told people standing that we sould take the girl to a hospital but we will need a police man to follow us or report in order to avoid police wahala, so a man joined me and we rush to Iyaganku police station we report the case and they call one of their officer and he quickly follow us to the accident scene, but getting there we could not see the girl again we were told by people around the scene that the girl has been taken to Jericho hospital. At that point I said to myself at least i have tried i should quickly be going to meet up with my appointment, but this police officer said the most strange thing that i v ever heard from a police officer mouth he said "please my brother go and turn and lets go to the hospital they might need money" i was stun and surprise that a police officer could say this, i have to quickly drive down to make a up turn.

We got to the hospital and saw the girl just laid on the bench and soaked in pool of her blood without anybody attending to her, the officer went in and asked the nurses and doctor why the girl is not attended to they said they will need money to buy the necessary materials to treat her, the officer said get me the list of the items i will pay for it, to my surprise this officer went to their cashier and paid for everything and immediately the nurses and doctor started treating the girl. He drop his number with them and told them if they still need anything they should call him that he has to quickly go back to the office his attention is needed. We left the hospital and i drop them off, while i was coming back from my appointment coincidentally i met the officer on the way going back to the hospital i just told him to come in so we could both check the girl in the hospital again because he said the doctor called him that the mother of the girl is around.

We got there and the doctor said they have taken care of the girl but most still come for some treatment for like 1/2weeks he now ask the mother hope she will bring the girl for treatment the mother said she would have love to but she doesn't have money, to my surprise this officer went back to the doctor and told him to give him the bill for the 2weeks treatment and this officer paid for it again and even went to d pharmacy there to buy the drugs they prescribe for the girl. I was like wao is this man a policer officer? For once i was proud of Nigeria Police Officer.

I collected his number and ask of his name and he told me he is SUPOL BILLY JOSEPH DT1 IYANGAKUN POLICE STATION ibadan.

Kudos to this officer if only we could have people like him in the force Nigeria could have been a better place for all. I am truly proud of him that's why I have to post these on this forum for us to appreciate the good ones among our officers.

What a nice and kind gesture from a Nigerian. There is a big lesson for us here. We should not use actions of some unscrupulous to judge others

It is the bad egg that spoil the other good eggs.
I have had encounter with a police officer 10years ago and this made me have a different mindset about them.
I and my finance was raided around 9.30 pm while I was seeing her off, the next thing we saw was a danfo bus parked near us and 2 men alighted from the danfo bus. We thought it was a commercial bus. The 2 men grabbed me by my trouser and asked me to follow them after showing their identity card. I obliged and my fiance also followed us.
After taking us round the mainland to raid other people, they took us to Denton police station around 12pm and wrote it in the record that we were night crawlers. I had taken to fate and waiting for the negotiation period when an officer sighted my fiance (she's taller) and said 'young lady, you're not supposed to be here by this time. What is the problem' my finance quickly explained to her that she and her brother (me) were raided while trying to get okada, the officer lambasted the people on the counter and was told that the inspector that lead the operation has gone out to raid more people. He gave an order that the inspector should report to him immediately he returns.
When the inspector returned, he asked him when they raided us and all that. he now told him 'didn't you see that these ones are different?' Go and release them immediately. We were released immediately and was offered police escort to our house. The name of the officer is SUPOL OKPALEKE of Denton Police Station 2005/2006. I can never forget that name in my life. Infact, I will tell it to my children and grandchildren.

briliant! nice one! Mr police! but i don't understand why do they need police before rushing an accident victim to hospital? one would have thought rush to hospital first to save live police can come and question later at the hospital, that's how it's done over here, some time the doctor can even order police to leave the patience alone come back when she/he is fit or fu..k off!, why do nigerian hospital even need their patience to pay first before treatment? what if the patience gat not money at that time? are they going to be left to die? why couldn't they pay later after treatment? save lives first. i find it really hard to understand the whole of nigerian system.
its appears money is more important than human lives in nigeria.
it boggles the mind!
Hmmm you see, this is what we should have put into consideration first. Can you just imagine, they left her in pool of blood till someone volunteer to pay the bill. Can these happen in a cirvilized world?
Btwn that police man should be compesated for good work.

This is no surprise to me at all. The same Police Officer had brought an abandoned elderly man who was a victim of hit and run to the hospital where I work (Ibadan Central Hospital) and he didn't just dump him, he kept checking on him. He even made a deposit for the treatment of the man and took it upon himself to look for the family members after the victim regained consciousness and was able to communicate verbally. ..He is one in a million, one you can call a good Samaritan.

The story is 100% true.I confirmed it. Supol Billy Joseph Oriade is an exceptionally kind man. A man with a heart of gold. Truly, even i can say, police is your friend. The girl that was hit is 10 years old. She hawks 'tinko' dried meat for her mother around the neighborhood. But that day, she veered off her normal route and had that accident.

It's also not the first time he would do something like this... https://juasolo./2016/02/19/a-ray-of-hope/
