There are things we need to look into before we talk about Osun State and Aregbesola. I didn't say he is not to be blamed but there are some things we all fail to see.
To achieve his dream State he has to borrow. Other State do borrow so it now new even the so called advanced countries are in debt. The only mistake he made is not having a foresight. Nobody knew that the allocation each state receive from the Federal Government will drop the way it did and it made a damage to most states. We forgot that Aregbesola wanted to woo investors to the state that has the land and the best power supply in the whole whole of South West but without good road network. He embarked on road construction and ask anyone in Osun or that had being to the state, you will hardly find an untarred road in the State especially Osogbo and many neighboring states. He also embarked in the construction of Federal road in the state to also woo them there.
During his first term before the drop in the price if oil, all local Government Area in the state has government ambulance. I don't know where the accident can happen in the state it won't take them more than 10 minutes to get there. Primary school students do eat at the public schools and when I say them eat I mean good food with chicken, bread and tea and the likes. You can also confirm this. Secondary school students from SS1 to SS3 where given electronic tablet with text books on them. Schools dilapidated buildings were redeveloped and new schools were also built all over the state. He employ 30,000youths in his first month in office and he paid there salary with his security vote( if that is what its called) and that is why you don't see him with many escorts. There is improved water supply in the state e.t.c
Things were going on well in the state that the opposition parties didn't see anything to use in campaigning against him. The man even created what I will call part time work for secondary school students through calisthenics. But where did he get it wrong, through wrong foresight.
Before the problem started,Osun monthly allocation from the Federal Government is 3billion naira and since the money will land in the state account with the bank he borrowed the money from, they will deduct whatever amount they have both agreed on every month. Mind you there are states that their allocation is between 20 to 24billion naira every month. Then, he always pay workers before the end of the month, students still enjoy their meals and don't also forget that education is also free then in the state. He slashed all higher institutions in the state fee by half.
What the state receive now is around 1.8billion naira which is almost half. I'm nota member of any party and I don't support any party. What I support is the individual.
Fellow nairalanders, please dont let us abuse the governor or people of the state. What they are going through is just a matter of time and a lesson to everyone of us to always have a good foresight no matter how good we think we are. Don't let us look at the party because that is what they want from us, let's look at the individual. If the person didn't perform the first term, let's vote him out and vote in another person. They don't want our unity cos that will be a disadvantage to them, let them be scared of us that if they do well we will vote them out. I don't want to tell my kids what I have being hearing when I was still a kid which is Nigeria go better. I want us to sing a new song and we won't be able to do that if the politicians don't fear us.
Let them know we don't look at the party cos they are all the same. We look at the individual and there is no second term but they will be voted out.

Please mind my grammar cos I annoyed while typing this write up and I also hope it make FP so that all will read and put our differences aside. Thanks and God bless.

On The Non-Payment of Osun State Workers for 5 Months...By Bayo Adeyinka

I read with consternation about the demonstration of civil servants in Osun State on the non-payments of their salaries for the past 5 months. I also read with shock and amazement how some of my friends laboured to defend this act by claiming it was not only Osun State that owed salaries and that non-payment was due to massive corruption by Jonathan. I also read on my friends Omowaiye Oluremi's timeline that Osun owes only 3 months and not 5 months. He went further to provide clarification that 80% of workers were paid their November 2014 salaries three weeks ago. His own opinion is that things will change when GMB takes over. My comment on his wall was that someone should be covering his face for writing that.
Now here's my take on this issue:

1. Any government, be it PDP or APC that owes 3 months salaries or more is callous, wicked and ungodly. It doesn't matter whether they shout change or transformation. Not especially when the Governor chatters private aircrafts for local trips.
2. The labourer is worthy of their wages. Civil servants or public workers have a right to their pay as and when due. No politician does anyone any extra good by paying salaries. Paying salaries is NOT an achievement.
3. Dwindling oil receipts is what is accountable for the reduction in allocation. So the question is: for how long will states depend on allocation to pay salaries and meet other commitments? Shouldn't each state focus on raising their revenue profiles?
4. The fundamental problem with Nigeria is our structure. It goes beyond who is ruling Nigeria. We must revisit our structure as it is. Why should states depend on allocation to do anything?
5. Are some states viable at all?

In my opinion, Osun State has no excuse at all. For a Governor who allegedly goes around on chattered flights, no excuse makes any sense at all. Has he considered cutting down the cost of governance- his numerous aides and Special Assistants? Of what essence is the elephantine airport project he's building in Osun?

I have outlined on a thread how I believe Osun State's revenue profile can be raised. Osun State has a cocoa belt. I know at least 2 confectionery makers who can have factories in Osun State and contribute to the development. All they need is tax rebate and land. What is Osun doing with Asejire River? How come I've not heard of a single IPP project in Osun? Or maybe I missed it? That's one of the few states where the impact of IPP can be easily felt due to the congruity of the communities. Ife/Modakeke/Gbongan has the best palm wine in Nigeria. What of having a bottled palm wine factory that will sell locally and later also embark on export? With the agrarian nature of Osun State, it can be the food basket of the South West. How is agriculture being developed? What of tourism? Apart from declaring Isese Day as a public holiday, Osun State can be a tourist haven- Nike Art Gallery, Twins Seven Seven, Opa Oranmiyan, Osun Osogbo and other ancient landmarks. What about having an arts and theatre village- Oyin Adejobi, Duro Ladipo, Ajoke Asewo To Re Mecca, Yemi Elebuibon, Baba Wande and a horde of other practitioners are from Osun State. The arts can be developed and made a big deal.

Let's talk about other mineral resources. In Osun State, almost all the local governments has more than one mineral resource that can be obtained from them. There is gold in Igila, Itagunodi, Oluwu Village, Iperindo, Iregun, Okulu Omo, Ashafe, Eyinta, Igangan, Okepo, Ipole Ajoku and Aiyetoro all in Atakumosa East and West. Gold is also in Ife East, Central and Obokun. Tourmaline is present in Irewole. Tourmaline is used in jewellery and in certain electrical materials, especially pressure instruments. It's also used in making hair care products apart from other trado-medical uses. Aquamarine is in Aiyedaade. Columbite is in Atakumosa West and Ife East. Columbite ore is used as an alloy of steel to form weldable high speed steel for radio transmitting valves, heat sensitive detective devices called barometer, for jet engines and other aircraft components. Cassiterite is present in Ife Central, Atakumosa East and West. Cassiterite is a derivative of tin ore necessarily used in circuitry and its use has, ironically, enabled devices to become more eco friendly.

Talc is found in Ifelodun, Atakumosa East and Irewole. Talc is used as extender in paints, insecticide carrier, rice polishing powder and wall tiles. Kaolin is found in Ifedayo, Ife Central, Ilesha, Iperinde and Iwaraja. Kaolin is used as filters in paper paints, adhesives, plastics, drug preparation ceramics, etc. Feldspar is in Ede and Irokun. Feldspar is used in paints, glass, tiles and scouring powder. Mica is found in Ifedayo, Irewole and Aiyedaade. Mica is a mineral that is commonly used in the electrical industry, to produce shingles and other building materials, and to prepare samples for microscopy.

I once made contacts with some close aides to Rauf Aregbesola about an Iranian car maker who was willing to establish an auto assembly plant in Nigeria. My preference was Osun State because that is my State and I felt Lagos has had enough. All he needed was government commitment to buy a paltry 100 cars and he will bring $1b to establish the plant. I kept on reaching to the close aides of Rauf to give them the link and I was ready to buy my own ticket to go and meet this Iran auto maker in Dubai to no avail. The selling price of a brand new car made by this car maker is N1m. The vehicle which looks like a pick up truck comes with a Peugeot engine. Maybe they will get back to me tomorrow.

There is a general absence of critical thinking among our leaders. The major problem we have is our inability to see beyond oil. My sincere prayer is that that oil that we all so depend on WILL RUN DRY TOMORROW. Maybe we will be able to think, then. Just maybe!

love ur post bro.....seriously the problems started during GEJ regime few months to Osun state election and people were blinded by it to see what lies ahead. Then GEJ withheld the state allocation for three good months so that Omisore will have an advantage but their plans was disrupted by the Adeleke family (Davido family) who gave the state govt 10billion naira and also borrow them 10billion naira and if u notice that was Isiaka Adeleke was given free ticket to the senate. There is IPP project in Ede dam and I guess one other place but I'm not so sure.

If u know Osun very well u will know that u will hardly see an indigene that is not a farmer from Ikoyi to Gbongan to Ede and other places. Most of them have what they do but they still farm. About mining there is little the govt can do as we all know that it has to do with the FG but what I was expecting him to do is to use his closeness to the presidency as an advantage in making this happen but he is not. As I said u need road network to woo investors but that doesn't stop his close aides in getting back to u.

Bros take a bold step, write to the Governor himself and go to Abere or better still invite the investor here and do that together. Layland is in Ibadan and even Lagos State Government do buy from them (LAG Buses). I also pray for the oil to dry up and lets see what states like Bayelsa that has few LGA and not more than 15,000 workers say then.

Brother you know why APC need not worry.

The people of Osun know who cares for them.

Forget all the noise from people that have no link with the state.

I am an ijesa man, and I know if another election is held today. Osun people will vote Aregbesola again and again.

Anybody can say what they like.

seriously bro I'm always surprised with the support Aregbesola gets with what the state is passing through. It shows people are ready to Starve now for a better future cos I see better days ahead when the roads are completed and FG pay the state for the construction and dualization of its roads. The Gov won't need to invite investors then cos the state is the best State to run your company withe the good and steady power supply. Dangote already now has a steel rolling plant there and I know many are coming. Better days are ahead. I can't also help but fall in love with Willie cos he is doing Anambrans good right now. That's the kind of person we all Aregbesola is and Osun people see that in him. That's why they always support him. Truly even though I don't support parties but individuals, if Aregbesola should contest again, he will surely will.

The greatest room in life is that of improvement. Aregbe 'wasteful' spending on few political motivated projects adoesn't justify the room for economic improvement he is blowing away. When he started out with his many O-schemes and O-projects like free feeding, free payment, Opon Imo(Tablet), and mad chase of missionaries out of missionary established schools, well meaning people tried to point to him the dangers associated with this pattern of spending but he & his close associates in the media rebuffed it. Today he still refuses to drop his politically motivated projects for economically motivated ones.

Stop this blame game abeg. GEJ never withheld Osun state's allocation or is buhari withholding it now?
Truth be told, Osun state are just trying to be blue irrespective of their hardship! Just like the people of Borno have always remain in their column despite their obvious backwardness! May God save us all.

You are an Ijesa man but I know certainly you are not living in the State.
Only fools will vote for Aregbe...

Excuse you, whether I live in the state or not is not the issue.

Whats your problem if someone has a different opinion from yours. You lack basic good upbringing and you need to check yourself

I was born and grew up in Ibadan where we learn how to reply people before we even learn how to talk. I would have replied that insult but today is ur lucky day. Oh oh! I wish you all know the agonies of those in Osun State... So anybody that comes out to defend Aregbesola if not sponsored is someone living outside Osun. They only know few things and claim to know all. Thanks for your advice, but know more facts about an issue before writing on it.

bros I schooled in Ede, lived in ososgbo for many years from Alekuwodo, to 7up in ogo Oluwa to ring road. I'm also an indigene of Ada in boripe local govt. I also have an Aunt that is a civil servant a teacher at Christ Africa school. i ball with my friends at The place bar opposite Oso Grammar sch. There is nothing I don't know about Osun state sir and like I said earlier I said he has poor foresight bro. Even though I support him sometimes I still feel bad for some decisions he made. I'm not a politician, don't even know anyone in Abere or my local govt office in Iragbiji. What I wrote is for us to endure till we are out of the mess if u think if Omisore had won that things will be different I swear they will still be same cos he will also meet debts bro. Let's brace up

It amazes me when a governor puts blame on a president for his failure. I am proud to be an ijesa man, precisely Ilesa and I knw what is going on in my state, I will like the writer of this post to visit some schools in ilesa like african church grammar school or ajimoko high school, both in ilesa or u take time to visit some neighbouring towns, u wil understand what I'm saying; wht do you want to say about the uniform of public school students; what of d health sector of d state. To cut it short, I wil like the writer of this post to spend some months in the state, he will know what we are passing through. Enough of putting blame on GEJ

Those roads, Ona Baba Ona, would have opened up the State of Osun to investors, especially the one between the Osun river in Osogbo and Fountain University. It was a good intention affected by drop in cashflow from Abuja.
Whenevr I pass through the one at Ofatedo, I marvel at the quality of work on the road. Nothing will happen to them in the next ten years or more.
Please do NOT hide behind your phone and type negative stories about such lovely state.
Light go just open eye for dat Ede sha!

I feel some of the issues raised here are real, am from same state(osun), if you knw this state well, it has been backward for long. This man really brought life and hope, eventhough I agreed that he failed to forsee a plumeting of crude oil price. Aregbe has done well compared to any past leaders. And I still stand to state it, am from same place with omisore, he does not even have what it takes, he is just a money bag. Aregbe maybe having it rough, osun people might be going thru turf time, it wil not last, and soon all the good intention this man has will be made manifest. Aregbe sure means well, but never envisaged the sudden downward plunge in oil price. With so many great project on the verge of completion, it is just a matter of time, osun wil endure, and thing will change for good. Osun a dara

and u think you are not the real f.o.ol? u said u are s native of osogbo but do u live there....by the way I checked ur profile and saw ikorodu...if u have a brain well everyone has but it depends how good u use it. Before u talk try and stay in the state and see how the man opened the state to investors. where were u during the previous regime.....have u see the roads tarred all over Oshogbo? I'm sure u are part of those that will come to the state thru free train transport during festive period...even neighbouring town of Ede has a good road network....other towns are not left out. From one town to another....a piece of advice for ur brain damage, always eat kaun that base like stone applied to vegetables with Eri ogi every morning maybe that will cure ur illness. nanamu
