Taylor Swift has taken home the 2016 award for Album of The Year at the 2016 Grammy Awards for her 2014 album 1989. Album of The Year is the most prestigious award in the music industry, and it's Taylor's second Album of the Year win (she first won in 2010 for Fearless.)
The field was strong as usual, with Alabama Shakes' Sound & Color, Kendrick Lamar's To love-vendor a Butterfly, Chris Stapleton's Traveller, and The Weeknd's Beauty Behind the Madness all up for the award. Swift, who also opened the night's award ceremony with a performance of the 1989 track "Out of the Woods" accepted the award, and in her speech had some choice words for her naysayers out there:
The comments were likely directed toward Kanye West, whose song "Famous" off of his recently released album The Life of Pablo makes reference to his off-again-on-again feud with Swift. (I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous"wink Swift, whose last public interaction with West was her introduction before his Video Vanguard acceptance speech at the 2015 VMAs, was said to have denounced the lyrics "misogynistic" before the song and album were released.
