Secrets Behind Coca Cola's Good Name.- Coke Vs Coke Look-alike. by anitapreeti(f): 6:40am On Feb 17, 2016
This piece is meant to draw our attention to the prevailing hussle to establish a goodwill which I perceive as an insolence. Being a very emotional person and a moralist, the slightest insultive word or words addressed to me or a class am a member of would most likely affect me. And as an advocate of peace,I was moved to post this. One sunny afternoon, as I was on my way from work, tired and listless, longing to quench my thirst and rejuvenate my soul. I signalled a lad hawking drinks, he quickly crossed over to the side of the road i was and stood by the entrance of the bus. "Bottle water! lacasera! teem! Auntie, which one you want?" he hollered at me and the other passengers sitting patiently, waiting for the bus to be fully occupied. "Coke" I said, "cold one o" The boy lifted the bowl from his head and carefully placed it on his knee. After going through his bowl, "coke don finish auntie, but I get another one wey be like coke" he said. With an irresistible smile on his face. Famished and eager to satisfy my thirst I accepted the coke look-alike, the boy then moved towards another prospective buyer. I quickly opened it and gulped down enough to extinguish the fire thirstiness had set on my throat. Rejuvenated and exhilarated, I started handling with the almost empty bottle. Suddenly, a yellow line caught my attention. I was thrown off balance after reading the words indited in blank ink on the yellow line. A gush of anger and regret engulfed me. My head doubled in wonder for I felt lowered in the minds of the right thinking members of the society, I mean I felt defamed. How could they? Of all words in the encyclopedia of words to be used for a promo!! Who calls his patronizers or targeted consumer Long Throats? When i was in secondary school, I was made to understand in Economic class that the interest of a consumer is paramount to a manufacturer. Now I begin to wonder what the manufacturer of this brand really thinks of his consumers. "Long throat" is an abusive imputation in our society. It's used to describe a glutton or a greedy person. It's insultive, degrading, , offensive, repulsive, ridiculing, slighting and uncivil to address one as "Long throat" simply because 20% extra was added to a product. It is quite Rude.
Similarly but more maturely and civilised COKE is now 60cl, same 20% extra but much more appealing. We don't get abused and we enjoy the extra gush of same irresistible taste and guess what? it's amazing sharing a coke with yourself (having your name on the bottle)or a loved one.
Summarily I will like to drop some sapient advice for the brand that manufactures for gluttons. Firstly I can only describe the brain(s) behind the promo concept as intellectually slow and inhumane. What ever clouded their conscience and sense of reasoning when they initiated the scrappy idea. Thus, I recommend a civil orientation for their employees, a session for training and re- training where they would be inculcated with the moral standard our society operates on. And secondly, I suggest the promo be withdrawn gradually for the sake of goodwill. They have lost my patronage and millions of other liked minds. #SayNOtoLongThroat Share A Coke With Me. I love coke. DIARY OF A COKE ADDICT.

grin no ves. But kindly understand that long throat was meant for the new look bottle and not the customer. It was a pun meant to attract a particular environment... The Nigerian one. It's was not meant to disrespect any consumer but to feed on their cravings.

anitapreeti, Pepsi madeors money from sales of long throat. When Coca Cola noticed their success via long throat, they switched to 60cl. Though, I also don't like that long throat na. As for Indomie, hungry man, that's just too abusive. As you can see, Nigerian consumers derive fun from abusive promo & adverts.
