The Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions sent out the representatives of Bank of Agriculture, BOA, while defending the 2016 budget today at the National Assembly.

The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, who intercepted the Managing Director, Prof. Danbala Danju, while analyzing the budget of his institution, raised an alarm that the submitted document before him doesn’t cover operational frame of the Bank.

Mr. Rafiu said:

“Your papers state not how you are going to operate. We are supposed to know your operational scope and help where there’s need or beg you to reduce if your budget is too high."

The Committee had earlier received Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC, Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation, NAIC, National Insurance Commission, NAICOM and Nigerian Export-Import Bank, NEXIM.

The chairman pointed out that the Bank of Agriculture should emulate the similar documentations made by other agencies, noting that budget performance must be included in details.

“You have to make a new submission to the committee then we take it from there. Thank you very much,” he ended the meeting.

Making excuse however, the Managing Director told said he was not privy to the neccessity of having such details contained in the paper.
