SE States Lead In Financial Buoyancy Despite Antagonistic Budget From Fed by Ofodirinwa: 8:47pm On Feb 19, 2016 |
If anyone wishes to challenge this claim they're more than welcomed. Other than Imo, who's allocation was spent on the Buhari campaign, SE states are the most debt free, least in need of bailout and by all accounts engage in the most construction and new projects. Enugu's centenary city has not halted like similar projects throughout nigeria Anambra builds and governs as if there's no crisis at all and in fact states are owning Anambra Abia is not only building the largest market in west africa, but is adding roads where there was previously not any. Ebonyi is now exporting rice and racing to the top in fiscal discipline. The one thing they have in common is the absence of the APC in their central government. If anyone feels otherwise I challenge you to a healthy debate to prove your standpoint but I'll let you know this isn't a space for blind motor park politics and follower's syndrome diatribe. 49 Likes 2 Shares |

That is interesting to know. Why are 80% of states controlled by APC not doing well financially? But we still see their citizens here jubilating and supporting them, advising others to go for APC? 36 Likes 1 Share |

I say this because I will single handedly prove to APC supporters that are blaming the rotten financial situation in the fed on 'the oil crisis' Why is Anambra that's adding flyovers in 3 cities, new stadiums, refineries, and lending money to states like Oyo Ogun and Lagos not suffering from the 'oil crisis'? Why is Ebonyi is a construction zone and now the 3 most agriculturally productive state in Nigeria, where's the 'oil crisis'. Abia is building the largest market/mall in africa. New roads, rebuilding the whole of Aba. Where's the oil crisis? do I need to tell you about Enugu? Every state in Nigeria announced a 'new city' at one point, only the Enugu Centenary City is moving and selling homes today. Why? Where's the oil crisis? Why is it that the federal government and the APC states the ones suffering from 'oil crisis'? 20 Likes |

If you want to cook any propaganda remember that thorough research is the first thing to do not mere speculations. The fact that a state is in debt does not rendered such state less performing. I am in Lagos I know what Ambode doing in fact the rate at which Lagos state moving now no state is able to do that let me mention but few of the projects; Ambode kicked off light Lagos last year and now no a single area Council left unlighted, the rehabilitation of ikorodu express road which is still going on, construction of Iyana Ipaja express road via Abule Egba still going on and construction of at least one inner road of all local Council in Lagos state still going on, unlike any other state, he equipped law enforcement agencies with modern equipments commissioned recently. I am saying this emphatically that no state ever had a good networking road like Lagos in Nigeria and the quality of good work was equally superb. And for the Lagos state got approved for loan in world Bank this year earn her prestigious position among other state because right now no state can. All these projects was not a left over from Fashola administration, are projects newly commenced. Who claimed that Lagos borrow money from any state in this country should provide evidence to back it up. 11 Likes 1 Share |

Ofodirinwa: But guy, didn't Obiano recently get approval for a 10billion naira loan from the Anambra state assembly in order to complete projects? Or was that not the cause of the recent fracas between he and his predessesor who accused him of squandaring the 75-billion he saved up for him? http://www.thesoutherngong.com/2015/11/after-channels-denial-by-psgov-obiano-approach-house-and-took-10-billion-naira-loan/ 12 Likes |

OP I agree with you. SE is a country on its own. All SE states are awashed with capital projects despite economic hard time....construction everywhee, and still able to sustain recurrent expenditure. Except Imo though. I can't say the same for SW... nearly zero capital project, and unable to pay salaries. SW depends so much on federal allocation because of their zero productivity. 10 Likes 1 Share |

aresa: Can you blame them really? It's obvious that building flyovers and tarring roads has become a new thing in the South East region due to the abysmal performance of their previous governors to date , so much so that they feel they must announce and celebrate these as 'achievements'. Ogun state has built no less than 5 flyovers, some of which were commissioned a few weeks ago. Flyovers may be new to the SE which is understandable but they aren't a big to us. The SW has been pioneering in the area of Agro-allied processing and mechanized farming for decades without making noise, but they see such things as unheard of achievements when some of their states do same. Mechanized farming has been going on in the SW and the North for decades yet no noise. Lagos has a 50-hectares rice farm at Itoga Badagry, others at Itoikin Rice field, Itoikin Idena, in Epe, the state also has an additional 500-hectares rice farm at Ogun state that has been producing and packaging rice for years without much noise. Ogun has been producing and packaging rice for only God knows how long yet no noise, not to mention ofada rice. The South West is still exporting Cocoa and earning Nigeria her highest non-oil revenue without much noise. The SW region still leads the entire country in the amount of FDI it receives compared to others. SE governors are merely doing a fraction of what some of our poorly-rated and current SW second-term governors already did times 3-over during their first term. Just because TA Orji, Elechi and Obi refused to tar Aba, Abakaliki, and Anambra roads and build flyovers for 8-years they are seeing road construction as new things. Smh. 19 Likes 4 Shares |
