South-Western political zone of Nigeria comprises Oyo State, Lagos State, Ogun State, Ondo State, Osun State and Ekiti State. The people of the South-West are not limited to the Yoruba which constitute the majority tribe, but also include the non-Yoruba who number about ten million people.
South West part of Nigeria is the most secure and peaceful part of Nigeria today many non-Yoruba people who have settled peacefully for years in different parts of Yorubaland, have mastered Yoruba language with its delicate dialects, contest for political posts, have inter-married etc.
The South-West zone is richly blessed with fertile land, vigorous and sturdy people.

Economy

South Western Nigeria with a Land Mass of 76,852 square kilometres and population of 25.2 million today owns and/or control 60% of the nation’s industrial capacity, 44% of banking assets, 67% of insurance assets and is house to the nation’s three deep sea ports of Apapa, Tin Can Island and Roro; the busiest international airport of Ikeja, three thermal stations of Egbin, Papalanto and Omotosho.
Southwest has an estimated GDP of about N67 trillion naira( about $305 billion US dollars), more than half of the GDP of the nation.
By my estimates, the Southwest region was the third largest economy in the continent of Africa n 2014! This must be a shock or a pleasant surprise to many people.
Take it out of Nigeria, the South West economy with is defined growing middle class and resources, will be one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

Industries

It is no more news, that Ogun state in South-Western Nigeria is the new juggernaut in the fields of Industry and Academic institutions. It can be said that the state is currently experiencing an unprecedented industrial revolution, as an ever increasing stream of Companies, Industries and firms are beginning to site production plants, Warehouses and all kind of facilities in the state, From Dangote's Ibeshe plant (The largest in Africa), to various new Industrial and Power plants in the state, the new manufacturing plants that have commenced production in Ogun State belong to the biggest industrial concerns in the world, and are by no means minnow.
Today, South west four major industrial estates of Agbara, Ikeja ,oluyole and Otta are all linked to gas under the West African gas pipeline plan and piping of gas is ongoing from Otta to Abeokuta.
While Lagos is undoubtedly ahead as the main station in terms of the service industry establishments, where the headquarters of banks, major business concerns and also the Stock Exchange and other financial centres are located, Ogun has also been accelerating towards emerging as the centre of industrial activities. Presently, investors in the manufacturing sector actually consider Ogun State a more alluring and conducive site for their activities. These investors have been drifting into the state at an unprecedented rate in the last three years, From the Sango Otta axis to Agbara, Ewekoro, Ibese, Ifo, Ibafo, Magboro and Sagamu, where numerous major manufacturing firms have registered their presence.

South Western population today is the most educated as western education came through there and education as a resource was democratized since the early sixties. Geographical location, democratization of western education, availability of resources enhanced in last 9 years and some empowerment during the Obasanjo administration have collectively enabled the South Western economy to rank as first in west africa economies.
South west has probably the highest number of Universities, Polytechnics,Colleges,Secondary and Primary schools in in Nigeria.

Religion Tolerance & Culture

The YORUBA of South West Nigeria practice religious freedom to a fault remaining the most tolerant community of every religious belief in the world. It is always fun to study, admire and live the way Yoruba celebrate various religious events even those adverse to their well beings during the Slave Trade in the hands of their Arab Muslims or European Christian brothers. In contrast, Yoruba remind us that the same way a slave is born, so is a free child. The only community where a slave can aspire to be a king and a king can reduce himself to a slave. Though Africa remains the only Continent without its indigenous religion practiced freely and openly, Yoruba religious culture has not been so consumed.
The reason most Yoruba practice free religion can be seen in their children. These kids cannot wait for every religious holiday to contest with goat horns or on sticks, feast, dance, and put on Africanized masks in celebration. There are different masquerades and festivals that generate great interest amongst those that have been taken by other religions. They all celebrate at one another’s houses. In short, they party all weekend on streets. Children grow up with this accommodating religious culture and pass it on to their children. Religious freedom became a cultivated custom from an early age.

What the government urgently need to do in Southwest is having a common master plan.
What we see today is the product of planning made when government still have business in business.

Mechanized agriculture, Rail and road transport, mass housing and skills acquisition should top their agenda now. Not the stomach infrastructure

Dividend of ensuring peaceful co-existence.
Despite all the provocations during the last elections, the people of that region simply maintained their cool.

Even the poverty rating u brandish always put oyo state far below all SE states, but Noman'sland will be used to cover ur nyash in the name of SW which is not a federating unit and only an imaginary region. States are the constitutionally accepted units, get that, u can never steal of former FCT

With all these indices, its clear the SW has no reason to remain in Nigeria when they can be competing with fasttracked economies instead of arguing with Igbos.

Just as enahoro did in 1956,I'd do now...lemme move the motion for independence of SW and the okun area of Kogi from Nigeria.
