Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers on Monday announced the suspension of three local government caretaker committee chairmen for failing to attend scheduled security town hall meeting.

The governor announced the suspension at Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni council area of the state.

He listed the affected chairmen to include those of Abua/Odual, Ahoada West and Ahoada East council areas.

It would be recalled that the governor had scheduled a town hall meeting following recent cult clashes, killings and a near breakdown of law and order in the Orashi region of the state.

The Orashi region is made up of four area councils of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Abua/Odual, Ahoada West and Ahoada East.

The governor said that the chairmen’s failure to attend the meeting showed that they were insensitive to the current issues of violence and crime that had recently enveloped the areas.

Wike used the forum to urge security agencies to clampdown on cult activities and all forms of crimes in the four local government areas.

He said the meeting was to enable government to empathise with the communities affected by the state of insecurity that had engulfed the area.

“It is our duty to protect the lives and property of our people; I must tell you that we are also prepared to do so.

“We have directed security agencies to do the needful to ensure that calm returns to the affected communities,’’ he added. (NAN)

Wike is the man. He needs to install discipline into those chairmen that can't attend meetings to protect those under them

I know dat the abt 40 APC members left in Rivers State are wishing and praying 4 Gov. Wike 2 make bad decisions and ruin this state.

The seed Wike helped sew for Jonathan has germinated. I as a stakeholder in Orashi region pray he succeeds in killing the trees now that they are yet to mature fully. Let all Orashi sons and daughters support every effort by the Governor to put a stop to this cankerworm after which he can be judged by the gods of the land.

He obviously doesn't have that tact of diplomacy.He never had it and it's said u can't teach an adult how to use the left hand in old age.
Besides lacking diplomacy,Wike lacks basic innate management or leadership ability.
When any sensible person now understands that many of the touts now in power in LGs and those disposed by the courts in the state assembly have issues with Wike who is indebted to them,the grave issues in Rivers state come to the fore.
I am not a doomsayer,but unless an earthshaking event in the power equation in Rivers changes and Wike becomes a new being overnight,the omen of his tenure are not good.

I wud continue speaking out till everyone sees what I am seeing and we all put aside sentiments,party or anyother affiliation to save Rivers state.
I don't care for Dakuku,but Wike needs to make way for somebody else or comes out to acknowledge the havoc his quest for power caused,is still causing and how he rigged himself in,using the blood of many.I know the latter confession from him sounds far fetched,but I crave the indulgence of all to SAVE Rivers state one way or the other from the ominous rule of Wike.
