Tricycle Operator Smashes Mobile Court Vehicle by Harrisonwo(m): 12:19pm On Feb 23, 2016
Lagos State Mobile Court vehicle was yesterday smashed by a tricycle operator while trying to evade arrest at Ikeja.
The tricyclist, Jonathan Oketa, was arrested while picking passengers at an undesignated bus-stop and causing traffic gridlock on Allen Avenue, Ikeja.
He smashed the Mobile Court bus marked ALL 741 DX while reversing his tricycle.
He and other five tricycle operators were apprehended and convicted by Magistrate Olalekan Aka-Bashorun. They were ordered to pay fines ranging from N25,000 to N50,000 with 48 hours community service as an option to six months imprisonment.
Twelve vehicles including private cars were apprehended and convicted for traffic obstruction around Computer Village in Ikeja. The owners were ordered to pay fees ranging from N20, 000 to N40, 000 with 72 hours community service as an option to one year imprisonment.
At Lagos Mainland Local Government, four commercial buses and three tricycle operators were apprehended and convicted by Magistrate Patrick Nwaka. They are to pay fines ranging from N30,000 to N50,000 with an option of six months imprisonment.
Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni convicted eight apprehended tricycle operators for obstructing traffic at Mile 12. They were fined N50,000 each with 72 hours community service as an option to six months imprisonment.
