The alluring terrain of Lagos state is unarguably one-of-its-kind in Nigeria. The city houses a people who enjoy life as much as they work hard. Lagos, the city of hustle, is one of the fastest growing cities in Africa.

Created May 27, 1967, Lagos State has proven to be the mainstay of Nigeria’s burgeoning economy and the melting point for all Nigerians and indeed global citizens. Bounded by Ogun State on the North and East, it shares boundaries with the Republic of Benin on the west. It boasts of the Atlantic Ocean by the southern borders. About 22% of its 3,577 km2 are lagoons and creeks.

The beautiful city of Lagos was first called ‘Eko’ (Island) by the Aworis whose major occupation was hunting and fishing. However, the name ‘Lagos’ was adopted by the Portuguese. Overtime, Lagos has grown immensely even though the seat of power had been moved to Abuja.

On display in these markets are fabrics at very cheap prices, local art works that are rich in content, statues, local hand crafted jewelry, masks and various other locally made souvenirs that adorn the nook and crannies of the markets.
