Governor Nyesom Wike on Thursday led a team of top police officers including the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr Musa Kimo -on a fact finding mission to Yeghe community in Gokana Local Government Area, affected communities in Bori and Mortuaries where those killed by soldiers were deposited.

The governor declared that all those involved in the killing of innocent Ogoni people and residents of Ogoniland will be brought to justice , saying that nobody will be allowed to play politics with the lives of Rivers People.

The governor declared that the military must subject itself to civil authority, pointing out that as Chief Security Officer of Rivers State, he was not informed of the operation that led to loss of innocent lives of Ogoni people and residents of the area.

He accused some politicians of deliberately instigating crisis in the state to create room for the evil declaration of state of emergency plotted by enemies of Rivers People.

I commend Wike for showing compassion by going to commiserate with his people who were victims of military gangsterism. I can only hope other Governors like El Rufai,Obiano and Ikpeazu learn something from Wike, to speak out and support victims of military brutality within their domains

Good question, I am tired of d violence in my state. The political class are to be blamed, since from 1999 till now, politicians arm youths to win election in rivers state and after the election, the arms are not withdrawn frm d youths and dey stop empowering them wit moni. The youths now use d weapons to terrorise innocent pple. Please, the military shuld remain in rivers state bcox dis boys are not afraid of police again, but d military shuld b cautious in d discharge of der duties, too many arms in dis state.

Now Army/Police kill innocent Nigerians more than Boko Haram....Army kill here, Police kill there! This is crazy!
