Boy, 10, Emerges Nigeria’s Youngest Microsoft Certified Professional Clement Ejiofor 3 years ago 34 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Send email A JSS 1 pupil of Valencia College, Ibadan, Oyo State, has done his school proud by becoming one of the youngest kids that have obtained the Microsoft Certified Professional certificate. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Photo: Boy, 10, Emerges Nigeria’s Youngest Microsoft Certified Professional Seyi-Ojo Anjolaoluwa A 10-year-old pupil, Seyi-Ojo Anjolaoluwa, has emerged the youngest Nigerian Microsoft certified professional and one of the youngest people in the world to attain such feat. Born on July 21, 2002 to the family of Dr and Mrs Anjolaoluwa, the chubby boy participated in the MCIP test on July 24, 2012. He scored 869 out of possible 1,000. Due to his performance, he was adjudged by Microsoft as a certified professional in Microsoft Windows XP (Administration Management and Configuration, Exam 70 – 270). Anjolaoluwa, a JSS1 pupil of Valencia College, Ibadan, Oyo State, has thus joined the league of world’s set of young Microsoft certified professionals, including Lavinashree, an eight-year-old Indian, and two Pakistanis, named Arfa and Thobani. Though their performance was not as high as Anjolaoluwwa, some Nigerian children, which include Nwaiwo Favour of Royal Family Academy, Abuja; and Osaremen Davidson and Olanrewaju Shittu, both of Doregos Private Academy, Lagos are also in the good book of Microsoft Incorporation for their enviable performances in the certified examination. Microsoft Certified Professional is an internationally recognised certification programme provided by Microsoft cooperation. The certification is tailored towards building skills on Microsoft business solutions, focusing on client-end operating systems such as windows XP, Vista, Windows7 among others. Though he was not the only pupil registered by his school for the professional certification examination, the boy’s performance placed him shoulder higher than his five other school mates. Except for his good looks and good natured smile, nothing about Anjolaoluwa appears extraordinary. But will he pursue a career in software/hardware development like Bill Gates and Michael Dell who started their software/hardware project around the age of 13? Anjolaoluwa said no. Rather than pursue a career in information technology, he said his aspiration was to become a medical doctor. His mission in life is to make his school and country proud. The Head of Training for ITS, an Ibadan-based IT company in charge of the ICT section of Valencia College, Mr. Oresanya Joshua, commended the efforts of Anjolaoluwa and the other five pupils, saying they should be celebrated. “The kids deserve to be celebrated,” he said. Oresanya also urged the Federal Government to urgently integrate information technology into the nation’s school curriculum. This, he said, would not only enhance the sustenance of the gains that the country has made in information technology, it would also help the nation to discover ICT gurus in its school system. He added that his company has been in the vanguard of efforts to integrate information Technology Training Curricula into Nigerian schools from primary to tertiary levels. Oresanya added that schools should be encouraged to take the teaching of ICT seriously. “Schools should be encouraged to embrace ICT because some schools still teach computer studies the same way they teach social studies without exposing the kids to practicals. If not for Anjolaoluwa and the other pupils that excelled in the Microsoft Professional Certification test, we would not have known that ICT gurus are within us,” he said. The school Principal, Mrs Victoria Morakinyo, also applauded Anjolaoluwa and the other pupils who made the school, the country and Africa proud. She added that they thrived in the examination because of the state-of-the-art facilities available in the college as well as the employment of expert and quality teachers that deliver qualitative education to pupils. The principal, however, commended Anjolaoluwa and other five pupils that sat for and passed the certification examination. The other pupils are Adeyinka Oreoluwa, Odunsi Nicholas, Ajao Blessing Ololade Toluwanimi and Agbele Oluwaloniope. They also came out in flying colours and were certified. For the ICT savvy pupils, it was just the beginning of their career as they promised to explore other areas of ICT certification so as to match their counterparts in the developed world. With the skill acquired from this certification, these young Nigerians stand the chance of securing high paying holiday jobs as system administrators, help desk support analyst or as system engineer. This qualification places them on a higher pedestal when compared with pupils of their age or class. Morakinyo said that with this feat, the college could arguably be classified as the fist secondary school in the country to produce six Microsoft Office Specialist pupils within a year.

My little niece jumped from primary 4 to primary 6 and came second in the first term exam. I made a promise to her that if she take first position next term that buy her anything she like. when the second term result came out she took the first position and ask me to get her s wrist watch in which i did, then i made another promise to her that if she can make a good score in her common entrance exam and also get a good score for unity school that she should name any special thing she would like to take to school. When the result for the common entrance came out she topped the whole of primary six pupils and scored 143 for unity school exam. She was later offered admission into unity school. She called me and told me about her admission and that she has fulfilled all my proposal. then i asked her to name her price. she said said that i should take her to shoprite but i was not around then. I told her that i will sent money. I sent #10000 to her mom and told her to give to UKAOMA. She thanked me and promise to use the money to buy anything she like. when she came back from school last term she came first in her class

Why promise to buy an iPhone for a 7year old? So many reasons why it's not appropriate plus you expose him to unnecessary danger in a society where a majority of our people can barely feed. It's good to make a child understand why certain things are not necessary at some stages in life.

Now you're at that bustop, you may have to buy to engender trust. Somehow you have to establish usage control. Pray that he doesn't get too absorbed playing with the phone enough to affect his grades.

Pls Dnt buy an iPhone for the child, instead buy him a reading android tab, or even a kindle android tab for reading , that looks cool with some games installed. What does he need an iPhone for, at primary one and he gets an iPhone, then primary six he might request for a wife or an aeroplanr, or even a diamond encrusted Rolex...

Nah... these kids are not idiots. They know what iPhone is and what a kindle tab is. It won't have a negative impact on him as long as he is closely monitored.

I once taught a bunch of kids; they own all these and more - they perform excellently in their studies.

Kid: Dad, can i spend this summer in Canada with my cousins?
Dad: Yes, if you have CGPA of 4.5

so now, yoruba was replaced with civic education and french was left standing. schools would rather teach our children french instead of an indigenous language.
Nigeria just keeps getting it wrong.

a promised is a dept, the boy has done his part and that father is left to do his own part no cheating in promising.but he should get him a low grade iPhone and will also give a reason for that, either when he get to ss3 he will surprise him the more if he do well.

He should not buy it or else d boy wil always hold him to random in future ND moreover how many of his mates are using phones.
He should just let him realised that he is proud of him ND just decided to test him to see if he wil make d mark or not.
Take him on a shopping to mall ND let him buy nice things that he likes aside from phone is not old enough for that now.
