Shocking news,l rather would say reaching me this morning through orient 94.4 fm owerri morning news has it that a government visiting panel yesterday visited the imo state university.The panel was said to have come to look into the affairs of the university from 2004 till date,and found shocking fraudulent activities which led to the termination of the services of the v.c,his assistant and a host of prominent officers including the registrar;mr ejiogu and his assistant too.The news said that a sum of 55 million naira from the school account was left unaccounted for,which also led to the sacking of the man in charge of the school financial account.A host of other lecturers who had their hands soil-ed in admission rackettering,and exploitation of the students financially,were also giving the axe.It was also disclosed that the ex-v.c made away with a school properties worth 3.8 million while leaving his tenure was asked to return the school property with immediate effect.The news still had it that a lecturer who had claimed to have obtained a certain degree in the one of the nation's prominent university,was all but a fake,he was sacked too and was asked to return all money he was paid under the acclaimed degree he faked from 2004 till date.All the sacked officers are asked to leave office with effect from monday.This exercise was part of the administration of the executive governor of Imo state;His Excellency Chief Ikedi Ohakim(Ochinanwata),which is part of his 14 point agenda and his 'NEW FACE OF IMO' project,bent on making the state better.However,this news may come as a blow to the planned post-ume exercise that was previously scheduled  last week,as new officers will take time to continue where those that are leaving left off.
