He did & the workers are not apprehensive as they have been assured of no job loss , they were not even informed, most got the news from the media ... it's just that the union executives don't want a deviation from the status quo, one of their angst is that this will scatter a lot of things for them, E.G, a situation whereby they are lord supremo, now that the corporation has been restructured , each venture will be independent which means, someone from Gas can't be a union leader in downstream.. You get ?

I think the backlash from many Nigerians made the union guys had a rethink, anyway they have finally exposed themselves as saboteurs as no one will take them serious anymore including the new management of the NNPC divisions.

I'm a bit familiar with the pet. sector and I am well aware of the mismanagement and loopholes of this sector which is caused by the staffs and as well aided by this group of so called NUPENG, N PENGASSAN its just so pathetic for them now because their negative influence to the development of the corporation have been reduced to a minimal level, I think going by this quick decision by GMB and the eloquent Ibe Kachukwu we can now experience some steedy development in our oil and gas sector.

(NUPENG) and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior
Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) have
called off their one-day-old strike. The workers
suspended the strike after a meeting with the Minister of state for petroleum resources,
Ibe Kachikwu. The unions had embarked on strike
following the
misinterpretation of the unbundling of the Nigerian
National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). After
meeting with Kachikwu, the unions decided to suspend the industrial action. Kachikwu assured
them that there was no
unbundling of NNPC, but only restructuring and
reorganisation. Organised labour comprising the
Nigeria Labour
Congress (NLC), Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and Trade Union
Congress (TUC) on Wednesday shut down the
operations of the Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation (NNPC) nationwide. The minister who
doubles as the NNPC Group
Managing Director, Ibe Kachikwu, had on Tuesday announced the creation of seven independent units ,
namely downstream, gas and power, refineries,
ventures, corporate planning and services, and
finance and accounts.

This nnpc workers are callous. n they know very well the atrocities they commit under the current operation of the nnpc..

Nothing have they done, is for the interest of the masses. rather its nothing else but for their own selfish interest..and the continual room for unending corruption and sharp practices..
what baffles me the most its that they would still shamelessly come out in public to protest. because they feel Nigerians would never know their antecedence and intentions. what does "carrying them along" mean in the case now, as their point of agreement, after the meeting with ukachukwu..? has he talked about sacking anybody yet? i even suggest they get all of them sacked and employ as many as Nigerian youths who are boiling and willing to work anytime, anyday,... talk not for NNPC.
Has the man committed any crime for suggesting to restructure nnpc and put-in his expertise so the paramount asset of the Nigerian country could function maximally and transparently for the common benefit and practical good of every Nigerian..?

But some voracious few, who are benefiting from the cluster, milking and shortchanging the far greater populist, under the blackhole of their gutter covering,wants the status quo to continue.. And now the man has raised the lid of the cover, to clean and restructure the sector and separate units, so that fresh air can come into NNPC and keep the foul nyash open.. This nocturnal cockroaches have all sprang up from their various crevices to oppose him, because they have anticipated what the case would become now the roof of their slaughter house has been taken off and business as usual has been terminated.. Ibe Kachikwu is an erudite lawyer with many years of ecperience in both national & international oil & gas, the process was well though out & he saw through their act..
