Federal Government suspends 260km super highway project of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State.

The suspension is coming from the hills of protest by Ekuri people of Akamkpa LGA where the proposed road enroute to other parts of the state.

Ekuri people had protested the violation of the environmental regulations and demolishing of their farm lands, houses and vegetations without proper compensation by Ayade.

Destroy farmland? Which road are they going to channel their harvest through? If government does not link their community with major road network they shout marginalization. The expectation of goverment being a father Christmas is becoming super toxic for us. It has to stop.

I do wonder how on earth some fellows would demand for money from a kind hearted individual or group in helping them develop THEIR own town or village

Hehe, I even struggled to understand why the governor would tear a new highway all the way to kogi, while the existing road linkng the state to the rest of southern Nigeria is near total collapse, the port city is Lagos, at least for the foreseeable future, if a second port is coming it'd still be in the south, what does the average calabar man need a 260km highway to Abuja for?

The truth is that he want to take over ten kilometers forest land on both side of the proposed road with a hidden agenda of selling it out to logging companies and the secret leaked. The communities have ganged up already for a show down and the international communities are in support
