I would try and make this as brief as possible.

I was at Ojodu yesterday and decided to branch at the Zenith bank ATM to withdraw some cash to enable I and my friend whom we were together to get fuel to our car since we were opportuned to see where fuel was available around.

My greatest shock however was when I approached the ATM and slots in my card to withdraw 6k from my account, lo and behold I was presented with N5,500 which comprises of 5 one thousand naira notes and 1 five hundred naira note. Being the typical me, I didn't wait to count the money there as I headed back to join my friend in the car and while we were approaching the filling station and decided to count the money, believe you me when I thought we had already seen it all in terms of corruption in this nation, I was perplexed and in immense confusion when I realised I have just being scammed in my country Nigeria by a bank's ATM.

Honestly, I am still enormously disappointed and had wanted to go back to the bank to lodge my complain but due to my busy and hectic schedule time is obviously not on my side really and also to imagine going into the bank to lodge complain and ranting over just N500 is kind of a disgusting thought to me. But sincerely I do hope I'd get to inform them when ever I am opportuned to go tothe bank for any transaction. Either ways, one thing I have learnt now is, this is Nigeria where any thing can happen most especially in this desperate time we are in, and hence forth I would never trust any ATM in Nigeria and ensure I do count my cash being withdrawn right there for crystal confirmation before leaving.

Love to round up by saying "Naija I hail o!"

Well. Things are happening and when i say not only our leaders are corrupt, we as citizens are also very neck deep in this corrupt act.

2 things could have happened.

1. The person loading the wallet in the machine could have swapped few 1000 notes for 500 notes. . Please, find time to report this case abeg.

2. It could be a honest mistake on the part of the person that loaded the machine with cash. However, he would have noticed at the point of reconciliation but the problem is, where would he trace the error to and would he have reported it?

When I was in the bank, I have loaded cash into the machine and I can tell you how easy for the wallet in the machine to be manipulated.

I hope you find time to report the case so as to enable the branch to investigate what could have happened.

they can still refund you the balance. There is a atm error dispencer form for this which you can fill at the bank. Just take note of the transaction code and amount received. Visit any of your bank branch to fill the form
