Religion answers questions about man and his relationship with a Higher Being God.
Religion answers and provides frameworks for many of life's questions:
like - life after death questions
how to treat and relate with your fellow man (framework)
how spouses should treat each other (framework)
office of spouses in a marraige (framework)
Man and his relationship with his superiors (framework)
What constitutes evil
What and how to source for help during overwhelming (spiritual times)
etc

Every one has these question and every one answers them .
There's no escaping these questions. So every one has relgion.

Atheism constitutes an untypical religion because it has no external supreme higher figure that is known
as God in other religions.
It replaces this figure with the mind and science !

For what constitutes evil , questions of morality,
It draws up its own philosopy and framework - e.g if it doesnt hurt anybody do it.

And so on...
One apparent thing with all religions (including atheism) is that,
when another one is rejected, the defecter has to either subscribe to a new code of ethics
or draw up one for oneself.
We see that they are already frameworks in place , because we witness how life decisions
and actions are carried out in line wit these frameworks.

Religion is about life, one's relationship with a higher being, and so on.
Everybody is alive, everybody has to deal with these issues and so everyone has religion.
The components of any religion are definable and replaceable.
One can replace the external higher entity with mother and father (most people unknowingly do - their parents word on any issue is final. They turn to their parents for spiritual guidance even in the adult years)
it could be pastors, it could be talk show hosts (e.g oprah winfrey)
, etc.
Whosoever you seek moral and spiritual guidance from is God to you!
And that person could be Ourselves - yes! We can be our own God! -
It could be an idol - ritualists etc

Atheist have necessarily only 1 thing in common: Lack of belief in god. Nothing else is relevant.

Atheism or Atheists answer the question all sane living people answer and came to a conclusion.
They define what constitutes morality and have a 'framework' for distinguishing morality.

How is this different from what other religious people do?
The difference is that the source to the atheist/intellectual atheist can be arbitrary and internal
while adherents of defined religions have those answers and frameworks pre-frabricated and handed to them.
Everybody has religion because everybody has life. And everybody answers these questions.
What you may say is Atheists dont believe in any diety.
But that is answering a spiritual question - "Who is God/Is there a supreme being?"atheism does not answer this question. Atheism in its basic form deals with belief but it does not claim to know if there is god. belief and knowledge are 2 different things
Atheists say "Slavery is bad ... (and accuse the Bible God of it) " - that is a question of morality. fabrication. where has atheism said this?
They have a philosophy for defining morality . What is good , what is evil? more fabrication
That's a religious question .
Is there life after death? - a spiritual question . (all religions answer this. So those atheism)
Framework for establishing what is true - (christians : the bible , Atheists: science/physically verifiable evidence) again this is fabrication - each atheist has their own approach - trusting science is one but it is not a prerequisite to be an atheist
So you see that all the properties and questions of religion are posed and answered by atheists and every human being on the planet.

You make a lot of false claims here. Atheism does not answer any of these questions. Individual people answer these questions each in their own way. And if to answer these questions means to have a religion then every single person on the planet is following their own personal individual religion. If that's your definition, then fine. Atheists do not share any common ideology, or framework. There is no atheist manifesto on what morality is. Each atheist is free to define morality in their own way and still be an atheist. Each atheist can reject every single doctrine by another atheist and still be an atheist. Every atheist can disagree with every single thing that comes out of Dawkings mouth and still be an atheist. Only ONE thing unites atheists: lack of belief.
"Who is God/Is there a supreme being?" Each atheist has their own view. Some say impossible. Others say I dont know. Yet other say its possible but I just dont believe. How can you claim atheist say "Slavery is bad" - where are you getting that from? There is no authoritative source that represents all atheists like a bible. So basically you are generalizing because of what some atheists have said. Some atheist say slavery is bad, others say its just survival for the fittest. You dont have to believe slavery is bad to be an atheist.

There is no common religious, spiritual, moral question that unites atheist apart from a lack of believe in a god.
Is there life after death? As an atheist my answer is who the feck knows? Everyone who knows is too dead to feedback. Another will say...impossible. Another will say yes, through reincarnation. Atheism in itself answers nothing. There is no set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader or holy book as is requisite of religions.

Religion is tied to life. And provides the framework for answering life questions on spiritual matters and even non spiritual matters.
I said, formal religions have these frameworks and philosophies pre made. So adherents simply subscribe
and use them. Easy.
Atheists, also have their own framework and guides. Many atheists follow a pre made framework, provided
by other evangelical atheists. e.g popular vocal atheists, e.g on youtube , in the scientific community.
While others have to create their own guidebooks.
It doesnt matter. The frameworks have to constructed and used as scaffolds for building a life with.

Everybody answers the question of religion. Every single person.
