some of these statues , like the moai, located on the Easter Island (originally called Rapa nui) were carved when there was no modern technology, so its still baffling how the rapa nui people were able to move them from the quarry to their present location as these statues are incredibly large.

There are 887 known statues with an average height of 13.2 feet, the largest is about 32 feet tall and weighs 82tons. The one that would have been the largest (70 feet tall, 270 tons) was never completed.

It would take 180 people to move a 10 ton statue, so moving these statues required a sizable work force which they were lacking at that time ( between 1200-1500 AD)
