She can't sue the company. It's not a fake eye drop, she was just allergic to it. Meaning if you used the eyedrop it wouldn't have reacted this way on you. Everyone is allergic to different things.

This is one of the several rubbish general practitioners do to innocent patients. What happened to case history? Is it his/her job to refer her to a chemist? Work within your professional limit and do the right referal ... she should have been referred to an eye specialist that would take proper case history regarding her allergy, what does a chemist know, gabage in gabage out doctors.

This happened in London England. No mention of bleaching cream. Marian Adejokun, 24, was left in a coma for a month after the one-in-a-million illness, known as Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

The nightmare began five years ago when Marian, from Thornton Heath, south London, complained of an itchy eye, and her GP directed her to the chemist for some eye drops. She woke up the following morning with lumps all over her body and was rushed to hospital, where her skin began to shed.

Marian was soon after put into a medically induced coma, and doctors told her mum she may not survive the ordeal.

The brave young woman, who once came second in a Miss Teen Africa beauty pageant, said: "Unknown to me, I had a rare, deadly allergy to eye drops and shockingly, after using it, all of my skin peeled off from head to toe."

Actually, i cant help but questioned why her parents allowed the British Sun newspaper to take photos of her suffering and plaster it all over the newspaper. For me the purpose was not to educate or warn of the hidden dangers in Optrex eye-drop but to horrify readers as a sensationalist ploy to sell newspaper. If i might add, much nod-nod-wink-wink, was implied. She was exploited.

It's no reaction to eyedrop, it's clearly the work of darkness!

Better pray very hard, and keep praying, and come out of this. God can give you a second chance at wholeness; so prepare your heart and ask Him. He's close; look with HOPE to find Him, and you surely will.

according to what I read..the op said 'eye drop'..once you are allergic to something you are allergic to it no matter the form..all I'm saying is its not her first time of using an eye drop,she must have noticed the allergy..she's probably allergic to one of the chemicals used in producing it.
I'm allergic to shrimps so even if i eat shrimp cracker..shrimp cake..once there's shrimp I get itchy throat..about the age bro at 24 she should have known what's good for her body and what's not..please don't forget I wished her a quick recovery.

Eye drops are as diverse as food. Different eye drops have different active and passive ingredients. It's just like saying I'm allergic to Panadol so I will be allergic to chloroquine. The fact that you are allergic to one eye drop doesn't make you allergic to all eye drops.

No..but it means you are allergic to one of the chemicals and i believe that's why the table of content is on the container.

Poor girl! The eye drop might have contained sulphur compounds. Please read manuals in drugs to be sure they dont contain sulphur compounds. Avoid drugs like Septrin. They destroy and kill. Read about them before using them. Your life is not worth the disaster.
