U'ld still see some pathetic ones come up with excuses on behalf of the govt and do d usual thing of blaming something or someone. D govt itself admitted d budget dey submitted was "padded" by enemies or whatever dey want to call dem. D normal and right thing to do would have been to withdraw such on the grounds of the "paddings" which is well within his rights as d President. But no, they are going ahead with the same budget dey claim not to know most of it's contents but zombies don't see anything wrong in dat. For those zombies who are blaming the Senate, D govt left demselves vulnerable to the politics of the National Assembly with d massive irregularities in the budget. What happens to the many dubious items and sums wen d budget is eventually passed?? Good Riddance to yeye rubbish. Fighting Kwaruption indeed

The interesting thing about this new APC government is that flaws/padding of the budget is now being exposed.

Which in itself is sign of change....in the bad old days of PDP...such things would be swept under the carpet.

Good work from our APC controlled Senate. That is what we elected you to do.

You are bless, this has been the practice for years. Thank God for APC, Nigeria heading to the right direction.

If the NASS really love Nigerians as they are claiming, these errors are correctable without this long drawn back and forth, budget delay will only affect the ruling party politically but the masses are economic pains sufferers. One is tempted to think that the budget is now being used as bargaining tool for Senate President's case at CCT. I guess until they postpone this CCT case indefinitely, the budget may not be passed.

No, I am just happy that our budget is getting better scrutiny.

It does not make the APC look like saints, but it does show , even in a small way, that it is not business as usual.

Now....let's replicate that at the state level.

Let us see how it goes.

All the previous budgets were made available for the public to see. Please kindly tell us the flaws/padding in the last budget proposal that GEJ presented. One ridiculous thing about you APC followers is that you never come up with any evidence. You just make baseless allegations to divert attention from the incompetence of this government. How can a whole president stand in front of lawmakers and read a budget proposal then come back to accuse other people of padding it? Isn't that mediocrity? It's like signing a document and then saying you never bothered to read it. Whose fault is that?

Example below

charliboy654:
For example, in 2013, the sum of N527,000,000 was budgeted for the item; in 2014, N1,161,356,582 was allocated to the same item; in 2015, N316,420,274 was budgeted for it; and N1,710,322,610 is to be spent on the procurement and installation of security system in the SGF office in 2016.
I guess u guys criticizing did not read this part of the post. Or was buhari also president in 2014/2015. Nigeria budget has always been corrupt but this is the first time these errors are been expose. Unlike the previous govt.
Though I dont support the errors in this budget. I think the present govt need to work harder, as they are too slow.

Good work from our APC controlled Senate. That is what we elected you to do.

Stay there and be deceiving yourself. Is it not the same group of people who passed previous budget now passing this new budget? Are you saying they suddenly have developed virtues they never had because they are now in APC? Warped logic. When presidency cuttlery and feeding budgets were inflated under Jonathan's administration, were they not exposed? So how could the budget had been padded then and people who exposed inflated food and cutlery's budget wouldn't do the same with padding in the budget? Finally are you aware that the budget get leaked into the public forum and some of the revelations have actually been coming from secondary sources other than the house? Would those sources too have been compromised in the past administration?

Truth be told, the current budget is doctored and inflated because those who did it were aware we have a president and his crews incompetent to do a serious vetting job. The president went ahead to sack others for a budget he physically appeared to present in the house. In a serious clime, he would have been the first to resign. A leader who refuses to take responsibility but blame others for fraud under him has got no integrity. No wonder Buhari comes out and arrogantly denies all electoral promises he made. All these points to the fact that he is a grossly irresponsible person. He has no integrity as Nigerians have been deceived to believe.

Nigerians should be very careful not to play into the hands of the enemies of this nation. Certain things that should be observed from the budgetary process this year:
1. it was transmitted to the houses earlier than previous buget proposals

2. This budget has gone through more scrutiny than has ever been done prior; this in itself is change.

3. Punishment for those who thought it was" business as usual" and decided to pad the budget was instantaneaous

4. Most budgets in the past were passed in record time without much scrutiny after "Ghana must go"bags went into the boot of ..... However, this time, there is no mention of such. I hope this is not why they keep shifting the date of passing it.

While not being an apologist of this government, i think it is progress in the right direction for the country. Infuture, anyone thinking of padding anything will think twice before doing so. And for those in government, it signals a wake up call for them to do things meticulously.

I don't think "reshuffling" of civil servants from one office to another will count as punishment. They were just fall guys in a scam gone wrong! If they were not, an issue as grave as budget padding should land them in the famous Kuje Prisons (PDP punishment ground) and a trial for treason (trying to derail the nation) or even financial impropriety. All I see is a government covering up its festival of Yams! It's a new yam festival my brother.
