IamPatriotic:

You're not totally correct, I'm from the South West, the talk of the region being an opposition to the central government is more of a media creation, going back memory lane, in 1999, Gbenga Aluko was a senator from Ekiti, he was elected under the pdp, also pdp had a sizeable number of HoR members from the South West, fast forward to 2003, the tide changed Pdp swept to power in the south west controlling 5 of the 6 states in the region and also virtually all the Senate and house of representatives seats, the talk of opposition resurfaced with Tinubu's ACN and in spite of all the talks about it, there were handful of places in the south west that were being dominated by L.P. (a known heir to PDP) .
Take it or leave it elections are most keenly contested in the south west and it is always with nearly no lost of life, except in few cases of assassination big wits which is usually carried prelude to the main elections .

My friend. Before 2014/5 where was the ACN outside the South-West. It was as polarised as APGA. If the South East decided in 2012-14 to vote APGA enmasse and proposed a merger with the CPC supporting Buhari where will the west have been.

The reality is that APGA moved increasingly to the centre by losing more and more support to the PDP in the East while the west became increasingly polarised. If not for the merger with the CPC the entire west will be under regional leadership. You can't deny that.

Early results can be misleading. But I still think PDP will thrash APC once and for all. Wish APC gets the message. The south South and South East are not interested in ur ethnic and religious ideologies. We don't want to be slaves, we don't want to be in bondage. Say what you want about PDP, it's the only party that guarantees our freedom of speech, freedom of expression, freedom of religion etc. Leave us alone.
Gbam! God bless you!

That is the truth. The few that voted APC came out because of the military presence of Amaechi.

I think Amaechi deserves commendation for saving lives in this election. I believe the military presence in the state reduced the number of lives lost.

I still do not see APC winning the election and I would like APC to stand down at this time. This is a democracy and the people have chosen to continue the kind of government GEJ started.

If the people want thuggery and Cultism, who are we to deny them of their right. Even if we think it is crazy to allow such kind of misrule, it is a democracy and it is what they want.

I salute Amaechi for his campaign to bring people out to vote. His arguments to explain the captivity the people are under.

Sir Amaechi, you have fought a good fight. Many of us in Rivers State are proud of you. If the people want misrule, give it to them and hands off.

You must be wicked, what are you commending amechi for? He used the military to intimidate innocent voters and you are commending him. I'm sure you are not from rivers state and you were not in the state to witness what the soldiers did. Commending amechi this is unbelievable.

Were you in the state during the last Gubernatorial election? Do you remember the blood shed? Are you saying this was not less?

Do you remember the shooting in the night along Wimpey Junction, Ikwerre Road? The sporadic shooting in different areas of Port-Harcourt?

Please the military presence brought sanity. Without them, we would record higher number of dead people.
Do you remember the armed thugs at Polling units?

U guys are not serious o.....just a ward in obioakpo LGA. Which is disposed to be wike's home town. Una funny o. For me, I believe that PDP will carry the day...not because of the aspirants or the governor but because of the sentiments attached...APC is seen as a Muslim party..northerners party...and the south east and south south are still not down with the way Jonathan lost. They see it as a conspiracy between the west and north. So they have decided to cling to PDP as " our own" party..so whether wike rants or not. Whether PDP campaigns or not...whether wike kills or not. It will be difficult for APC . however, woke is still not the best thing that has happened to rivers people. His ugly side is just incubating. I know him for over 20 years now.

Look, if the APC wants to get a proper foothold in the south then it should either remove Amaechi as its brand ambassador or send him on a two-year intensive course in political machinations at the University of Bourdillon.

When Jonathan became President I knew it would lead to political excitement, split and vigour in the south similar to what Obasanjo caused in the West, the rise of political opposition leading to contest and the attendant improvement in debate. I was not surprised when Amaechi split but instead of creating debate and finding better solutions he degenerated to squabbling, personality and character assasination. Tinubu never did that to Baba. Tinubu went about quietly undermining the PDP by offering a better package. What has Amaechi done as the spearhead of the APC in the south beyond Rivers State. Nothing. He fought Dickson on the right, Akpabio on the left and Uchendu in front. These are not characteristics of a Statesman and I said it last year. It will be a big clog in APC's wheel for a while to come.
