Abuklaw: Whatever Team Unilorin says... @Neyoor, are you OK with this new development? |

Catalyst4real: No sir, you are getting all wrong. In debates we compare and contrast. In more developed countries their institutions have adequate and up-to-date facilities that can make a quintessential graduate. But, even with this facilities personal drive plays a major role in producing a quintessential graduate. Thank you. 4 Likes 1 Share |

HerexG:The major problem of Nigeria Education is underfunding. Why should a country aiming to be among the developed countries allocated less fund for education while transportation got more. Isn't it the educational system that will find lasting solution to the problem of transporting through researches and technological innovation? Our schools will start functioning when they receive adequate funding and recognition from the Government. 1 Like |

Abuklaw: Really? Did I hear you say under funding? I What happens to the huge funds they receive from students in the name of Post UTME exams? I think that enough if used resourcefully could go along way to reform our schools 1 Like |

HerexG:Thanks for the opportunity sir For progress to be made there must be willingness, as the first propellant For a country that's 55 year old, our educational system is just "okay" but it can be better. Just as there are too many loopholes, so are there solutions. Pertaining Admission >Admission based on catchment area is silly and should be dropped, the less qualified are admitted, because they are favoured by region, while the more qualified candidates are sidelined. Pertaining Educational goal > Some students don't do well in school, not because they are not intelligent, but because they don't even know where they will work after graduating. The zeal fades, The passion withers and the fuel burns out; There is no goal worth fighting for, due to the very issue of unemployment. Facilities Even when they are available they are either substandard or unevenly distributed Education is a delicate part of every nation and should not be taken lightly. The present administration has to make it a priority to dive into the educational system and gyrate it to apical heights, for that is where the future of Nigeria lies. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Please, don't disrupt this process. We waited for him for many hours before we agreed for this duo. We didn't agree for this until catalyst4real his mate started accusing us of being afraid or somewhat. Oautemitayo can bear me witness. Let just finish it just as we started. Thanks 2 Likes |

Catalyst4real, you wrote and I quote: All the graduate had to do was listen, learn and pass exams. It doesn't go beyond that, The institution already has everything in place, and all the wards have to do to attain excellence is to learn and prove they have learned by passing the examinations. Do they all pass the examinations? When they do, do they all get the same grades? Do they all assimilate whatever the institution has to offer in the same way? Do the graduates all turn out the same? If they do not, what factor makes the difference in what kind of graduates they become? 2 Likes |

Neyoor: Neyor can you make a suggestion on how we can bring out the best and make proper use of the abilities in the geniuses found in our educational institutions |
Re: Nairaland Interschool Debate Semi Finals: Winner:: Unilorin: by Nobody: 5:48pm On Mar 28, 2016 |
On a final note. One of my mentor once said, “I have nothing against education. But at times, education gives people false confidence. It makes people relax, trusting in the power of their certificates rather than in working hard.” Where you are doesn't define you, but your decisions do. If the institution is to take the blame or glory for its students, then all graduates should have equal grades. What the institutes do is to give equal platform for every student, what undergraduates do with this platform is left to them and can not be faulted on their institutions. Quintessential graduate is the architect of his success and not the institution. Thanks! 1 Like |

Mordecai:neyoor didn't state that, I did. As indicated in my essay, I tagged it as "Role of the Graduate" A student who fails to evade with good grade is a student who hasn't fulfilled his primary role as a student. Should a student be applauded, glorified and credited for fulfilling his role? And the institution vituperated and criticised for graduating such a student? How fair is that? |

To cap it up Nigeria is a great nation, blessed, admonished and lifted. And most times we expect too much from this developing country, as much as we want growth. We shouldn't be swift to feign a blind eye to what our institutions are doing on a daily basis to ensure a sure future filled with competent graduates. It has been an experience and irrespective of the results, I will forever cherish this platform 3 Likes 1 Share |
