It is a terrible experience waking up to see what you have laboured for, for years brought down in the twinkling of an eye. All because you have been lured and deceived into buying lands acquired by government ,all because you fail to carry out a land verification exercise before buying that land.It is heartbreaking writing this article and my thoughts are with those whose properties have been affected by the massive demolition exercise undertaken by Lagos State government agency. And to the owners whose buildings are yet to be demolished, I hope it doesn’t happen..Visit http://www.ordinanceproperties.com/2016/03/massive-demolition-of-buildings-in.html to continue

God will help us. Although Land Verification exercise is a necessity because to be fore warned is to be fore harmed. When you do the right thing, you get the right result.

I recently wrote an article warning people not to buy land in a particular area in Lagos.(Read Ambode revokes lands in Lagos http://www.ordinanceproperties.com/2015/12/ambode-revokes-lands-in-lagos.html) because its been earmarked for “IBEJU COASTAL CITY” by Lagos State Government. I mentioned how NTDA installed warning signposts to inform the public and how land speculators had immediately damaged and removed those sign posts. I also mentioned how a client lost millions of naira for not taking my advice. The land speculators have been using file no for application for village excision to deceive innocent buyers and most often, using the construction of a school building to mislead buyers into buying a committed government land. The sad story is that those buildings have been demolished .I am really feeling bad for those whose buildings have been demolished.I strongly believe that government should have a better option other than demolition and give the persons affected a second chance.

Such a monumental loss! Nigeria should go into the records books as having the most notorious populace and the most rigid government ever known to mankind as far as ownership and demolition of properties.

People no dey hear, government no dey pardon!

As long as the Land Use Act is still in place, government will continue to use its power to grab lands from the native land owners. When you see government moving in for demolition with desperation, it is because those lands have been earmarked for a purpose and have had all the lands sold out to people.

Maybe you have bought that land without any land verification exercise or out of ignorance, it is never too late to find out the status of that land.Dont wait until you complete the building and one day, government moves in for demolition. You can never overestimate the importance of having a land verification exercise before buying that land.Dont be the next victim of land scam. Many have lost their entire life savings as a result of buying lands that have been acquired by government. Verify that land before buying it. Don’t be lured into buying government lands. Avoid this tragedy and prevent your property from being demolished. Getting a land verification exercise at the time of purchase can save you from a lifetime tragedy.Be warned

Checking just the papers is just scratching the surface. Documents can be forged and manipulated. You can only get the complete info concerning a particular land from the ministry of land and urban planning. Herein lies the problem.
Our very archaic and corrupt civil service are totally inefficient and very reluctant to release needed information without you lobbying, greasing palms and frequently visiting different offices.
Have you tried to process a C of O before? Did you see what it costs and how many years, on the average, it took to secure a C of O, when, if we are sincere, it shouldn't take more than a few working days?
Omo oniles are still in business because the government is weak at implementing and protecting its policies. Even the government officials are beneficiaries of Omo oniles' shenanigans.
