Are smart devices replacing printed Bible? by Maximum83: 6:44am On Mar 24, 2016
In the old days, books were very popular with little or no digital format. But Now I discovered that many of those books are now available in E - format. Even in churches today pastors now read Bible from tablets

As I am typing this morning, I just read my daily devotional from my Tecno camon C8 phone.
My question is, are our smart devices replacing printed books

Does it make any difference?
The Message is what matters.

It's even better on E formats, cos people spend more time on their devices than on printed books.

A pastor once said that there's nothing wrong in using a smartphone as Bible so long as that is the only purpose that particular smart phone serves you.

That is to say that you should not use the smartphone you use as a Bible for calls, text messages, music, browsing, porn (like some do), games, secular research etc and I quite agree with him.

This question has been on my mind since. But from my personal believe, it's normal. During d days when bible was been written and assembled. Written on scrabbles was d technology invoke then. Later bible was transfer to ink n paper, then it was typed when the technology improved. Now d technology has improve again bible need to follow the trend also. If u r thinking about the immorality that is attached to smartphone and devices have u thought of the ones that r attached to ink and paper? Or scrabbles?

So it's a BIG yes for me. Let d trend continue.

What's the rationale for that?

Is that why you shouldn't use the device for anything else?

It's not practical for the average man.

Before we had bound books, there were scrolls. Technology makes things easier.

The words inside matter but you should not use the phone you use in watching porn (in case you do) fighting on social networks, making romantic calls, exchanging sinful texts and playing videos as Bible. A man of God said so and I totally agree.

If you must use your device as a Bible you should ensure to keep it (the said device) holy at all times.

will watching porn and making romantic calls and sinful texts corrupt the words of the bible?

What if the porn watcher or sinful texter eventually reads the bible and the words change his life?

We should try as much as possible to pierce every dark region with the light of Gods word, and not run away from sinful people.

Would soaking the device in holy water help in keeping it holy?

I see no reason why using it as a calculator or anything else would render it unholy.

How many people can afford to buy a separate device just to install a Bible?

Was a BOOK given to us or the WORD?
God NEVER gave us a BOOK but his WORD!

So whether the word is written in a book or digitalised, how does it affect the word.

It is only RELIGIOUS people will condemn it!

So far the person is not carrying smartphone for the sake of shame for the printed bible, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

this is a pretty controversial topic, it's not bad o but when you think of those who use their phones for barbaric things, should'nt that be desecration ?

How about laptops - use it only for bible reading...?
I still believe that there's something sacred about using a leather bound bible. It looks respectable, dignified
and right. ebook looks tacky and trivial. It just has that whiff of unseriousness around it.

tablet that you'll use for gaming, chatting, whatsapping ... well?

It's the money. Expect to be typing on the air within the next 8 years. By air I mean some sort of hologram.

Books, letters, Banks, Money, even musical instruments, are all going extinct in favour of technology.

The coming age is digital.

We are faster, more efficient and transactions are cheaper. It's easier to carry a phone than a bible. It's the same for proffessionals who, unlike before, had to subscribe to volumes of expensive books and journals. In the process, jobs are being created in tech, mobile money agents, etc.

promoting the use of electronic Bible is really a huge destruction to the Christian fold. When the tribulation period begins and people are restricted from using the internet, how do you think they will be able to study the scriptures as guidance against the anti-messiah's antics? Don't you know that the promotion of e-bible will discourage the printing of the ink version?
