The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, Thursday, declared that his administration has doubled the pace of development in the state with the three ultramodern flyovers that are rapidly nearing completion in the Awka Capital City.

Speaking at this year’s Chrism Mass held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, Governor Obiano pointed out that the on-going transformation in the state is a fallout of the APGA model of government which was pioneered by his predecessor, former governor Peter Obi, and perfected by his administration.

“We have three flyovers swiftly drawing close to completion in Awka when most states cannot comfortably build one. It is not an easy feat to perform. Our flyovers are outstanding in design and conception. On completion, they will look like the hanging bridge in London,” Governor Obiano enthused.

Recalling the good foundation laid by his predecessor, Governor Obiano maintained that his administration had justified the confidence of the tax-payer with excellent performance and kept his promise to Ndi Anambra.

The governor who marked his second year anniversary in silence a week ago urged the people to demonstrate their appreciation of the great work his administration has done in the state by paying their taxes promptly.

“Taxes are the most dependable revenue sources to governments now. When you pay your tax, you encourage us to do more,” the governor explained and further commended the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor for his support to his administration, especially in making the people to see the importance of paying their taxes.

Reeling out his numerous achievements in the past two years, Governor Obiano informed the people that his administration had started installing street lights in most the parts of the state to boost night life and social activities within the state.He also pointed out that very soon the newly commissioned power sub-station in Enugwu-Ukwu would boost power supply in the area from 5 to fifteen hours daily.

Declaring that Anambra has taken the front row among states that are reputed for agricultural production, Governor Obiano observed that his administration has revolutionised agriculture and turned Anambra into an exporter of farm produce to Europe.He also noted that the Anambra Rice is equally competing favorably with other brands in the market and urged the people to pick interest in Agriculture in line with the revolution going on in the sector.Governor Obiano also urged the people to come out and vote massively for Chief Victor Umeh in the rescheduled Anambra Central Senatorial election as the former National Chairman of APGA is the best possible option for the people.
