Nigeria's senior Army officer, who was serving at the Army School of Infantry Jaji in Kaduna State, Colonel Samaila Inusa, has been found dead after being kidnapped last Saturday.

A statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, said “the Nigerian Army wishes to regrettably inform the public that Colonel Samaila Inusa who was kidnapped on Sunday 27th March 2016, was found dead today (Tuesday, March 29,2016) at about 6.00pm.

In a statement which relays that his abductors dropped off his wife and “left with him in his car and headed towards Abuja’’.

“They were in a Mercedes Benz GLK Black colour with registration number Abuja, KUJ 154 TZ.
“This happened at about 7:30pm on Saturday 26 March 2016".

Subsequently, the Nigerian Army increased the cash reward it promised to give anyone with useful information that would help in the rescue of its abducted Colonel, from N500,000 to N1 million.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that most likely the senior officer was killed same day he was kidnapped by his abductors at Kamazo Chikkun Local Government Area near NNPC.

“Because the body was found already decomposing around Ajyaita village off Eastern Bypass Kaduna, Kaduna State.

“Arrangements are in progress to move the body to 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna.

The statement added that “whoever is behind his abduction and murder would be fished out to face the full wrath of the law”.

In those days when you hear of military officer passing your area, you double check to know if everything is alright, but these days despite the military forces some of whom are already fallen hero for our sake,trying to safeguard our lives and properties, despite the fact that they were been faced with serious challenges and unexpected death as a result of diversion and manipulation of funds meant for their armoury, I least expected this kind of unmitigated death unleashed on this officer. I bet his death will create another lapses in the educational sector of the military forces as it is seen that he was instructor at school of infantry Jaji. RIP gallant officer.
