Hello all,

I have just imported 2 units of Mack R model tippers. They are both in very good shape. Both are double framed, 20-tonnes, camelback suspension, double axle (10 tires).

I am interested in leasing them out (preferably to a construction or mining/quarrying company).

Lease terms are negotiable.

I am willing to pay a commission to anyone that can link me with such a company.

I can be reached at kemdi101@msn.com or 0703-108-2335

Thanks

I observered that VOLVO Trucks are not much talked about when it comes to Haulage Business in Nigeria

Expert in the House,  what is your opinion on Volvo Trucks?

Are they not good for nigerian roads?
Are they too expensive to maintain?
Why are people not using VOLVO trucks as much as MARK,DAF,IVECO and MAN,

VOLVO Trucks are quite popular in Europe and widely used. I would appreciate an expert advice on VOLVO trucks in Nigerian Haulage biz

High Guys grin I like this post coz every1 has his/her own view, Awesome. And we'v got EXPERIENCED people here.
My Company KELS LINGER ENT. wants to venture into haulage business (Transportaing goods(Steel) from Lagos to Kano, etc) .i.,e we intend operating it ourselves. However,
1. we need more info/advice on HANDLING this drivers, Coz av worked 4 a Conglomerate and seen how d drivers mess up d Haulage section,
2. How much could we get Mark Trucks (Head + Flat Body), and is Tokunbo OK?
From my estimation it can cost N8,400,00 (for two - Tokunbo)

Lets see some Fin Analysis (Projected Income) here:

PAYROLL - Monthly
>Driver - N25,000 each X 2 = N50,000
>Motor Boy - N15,000 each X 2 = N30,000
>Replacement DRVR =N10,000
Total =N90,000

We assume that each Truck will Deliver (To d North 4rm Lagos) 4 times a month as dey spend like 3,5,6 days depending on circumstances To & Fro
Lets assume we its cost N290,000 to carry 30MT load to the North and N10,000 for an agent who source 4 customers, now N300,000

INCOME per TRIP
Income - N300,000
Expenses
Diesel N90,000
Driver N9,000
Motor Boy N4,000
Misc N20,000
Total N123,000

Profit = N187,000 per Trip

MONTHLY INCOME
Note: 2 Trucks for 4 Trips per month wich is 8 trips per month
Income N300,000 X 8 = N2,400,000
Expenses
Driver Commission N9,000 X 8 = N72,000
Motor Boy Commission N4,000 X 8 = N32,000
Diesel N90,000 X 8 = N720,000
Misc N20,000 X 8 = N160,000
Total = N984,000

Profit N1,416,000 Monthly

My qeustion again is, what are the possibilities of making more profit every month?

Thanks
Guys, please what are ur views in this projected Expenses & Income?

Oooops! Profit is N1,416,000 - N90,000 (Mnthly Payroll) = N1,326,000

Therefore, estimated monthly earnings with Two Trucks can be N1,326,000

@ sament,
this is very optimistic. The rate you want to pay your drivers, it will be a wonder if they dont run you down.

You want to make that much and give them 36,000 a month?? These small things matter and give them a sense of belonging. And I see that you want more profit, hmmmmmmm. For a trip to Abuja,my 18-ton truck consumes 58k diesel, which area will the 90k cover since I see that it is a 30-ton truck and carrying steel products.

Every other thing seems ok but make allowance for 3-4 trips instead. Our haulage ogas, what do you think?

Hello guys,

I will appreciate if someone can tell me the best tracker i can get for my trucks.

My haulage biz is within Lagos.

Thanks
Re: Transport And Haulage Business by Genergo(m): 10:39am On Jul 30, 2010
For your Truck tracker , you can use the SKYTRACKER, it uses all networks and you dont have to pay for the equipment, just the annual subscription of 24,000 naira.

You may call Temidayo Ajayi on 07063433816 for more info adn maybe a presentation in Lagos.

Now, can some one help me with how much it good cost to get an over 350 hp powered Mack truck that is about 5 years ( fairly used) , in very good condition?

I also need to confirm how much it is to arrange a comprehensive plus a GIT insurance, in terms of %.

Thanks

Re: Transport And Haulage Business by Kafin(m): 5:55pm On Jul 31, 2010
I am not in this business (at least not yet), and my comment is based on the analysis by Sament, and the response from Delampy.

Four trips per month is OK if the trucks are well maintained (one item that is missing from Sament's projections!).
He is offering the driver/motorboy a salary of base (25k/15k) plus commission (9x4/4x4) 61,000/31,000 per month. This looks low for the kind of work being done, but since you said you have worked for a conglomerate, I will assume that this is the going rate. There is nothing wrong in topping it up a little a suggested by Delampy.

Not sure what an agent will need to do to source the business, but I think you should allocate 100k/month/truck for PR. (Remember the Police are also our friends). However this amount cannot be added to the amount collected for the job (290k + 10K = 300K) as you have done because it is not an income to you/KELS LINGER ENT.

I dont know the distance from Lagos to Kano nor how many liters of diesel one can get for 90/58K so I cant comment on the operations for now, but one thing for sure is that if you properly service your truck, it will have a higher availability to be used for haulage, and wont consume diesel unnecessarily.

If you will be moving 30MT, please get a truck that can handle 35 – 40MT.

Does it cost ONLY 290K to move 30MT through all that distance? and are there 30MTx8 (x5 expecting at least other five companies to be doing the same) of steel/goods/month to be hauled around in Nigeria? Please forgive my ignorance (if I turn out to be wrong), I am only looking at the fact that you have a flat bed, the net weight of the goods and the fact that certain goods are automatically excluded from your list.
