How I wish Femi Falana was present, he would have taken Aribisala to the cleaners.

Aribisala should learn to put the defeat of Jonathan behind. We all saw how he campaigned against Buhari last year.

The action of those Unilag students shows how lost they are in the reality of things.

With the CBNgate/ Aisha forex heist et al, buhari and APC are actually privatising not fighting corruption so those in court are possible rivals for corruption estacodes. Buhari is simply eliminating the competition

Buhari is not the cause of all the problems we are facing today.

My prayer is, he should find a solution to most of these problems. But we should stop judging him now and still give him a little more time to see if he have a great plan for the future of Nigeria and Nigerians....

I love you all my fellow Nigerians.

Everything he said was just the reality about boooooohari's anti corruption fight...Aribisala was very prepared. Boooooohari isn't one to defend because he rubbishes the effort every chance he gets. When last did you hear from Lai Mohammed? Even Oby who's known to be a parrot when it comes to defending her ideals couldn't say jack! What is there to say? Aribisala is not a PDP man. He actually wrote a similar article blasting Johnathan over selective prosecution two years ago. He is one of the few men of conscience we still have around. I am an avid reader of his blog. As to sagay and oby intolerance of divergent opinion, that is the hallmark of buhari administration. Sagay should tell us what plans they have to plug the loopholes that allowed the past stealing and still allows the stealing that is currently going on under buharis nose. The first thing I expected was that buhari will either abolish security vote or he will at least ensure that they are accounted for but he made it clear he was not going to do so in his all Jazeera interview.

This is exactly the reason why I was screaming against having another retired old soldier to man the affairs of this nation again but as usual my fellow country men who are divided along political and ethnic differences they said no way.

Recall, when OBJ was elected as president in 1999 he never made any comment without first of all taking you back to 1079 when they were there how they left 4 refineries bla bla bla what happened to them.
Now this Buhari has continued by always referring to 1983 when they first came how they left 4 working refineries and on and on and on without any solution to the current challenge.

This is what you get from stale brains and weak bones. The will tell you historical stories that touch, waste your precious time and at the end your problems remain.

That is what we are going to painfully live with for the next 3 years and if we are not careful the next 7 years.
Wasted generation.

Only corrupt politicians could be fought.....
You can't fight and eradicate the ones with other individuals viz: police, lecturers, soldiers, market women, businessmen, bloggers, husbands, wives, children, pastors, imams, babalawos, lalasticlala etc

I see. Only politicians ba. Where are the future leaders coming from, the present politicians? No. The present nobodies. What was Jonathan previously, lecturer, what was Buhari previously, army officer. How well are these institutions doing in fighting corruption. Are lecturers not busy 'sorting' and soldiers diverting resources. Will they not become politicians tomorrow and perhaps leaders. Then what will they bring to leadership other than corruption.

One of the reasons corruption is so hard to cleanse is because it is entrenched, in our blood. We are born into it. It moves us through life. We depend on it. Thus if it must be eradicated it should start from the home, the child. And just like the polio vaccine its effects will be a lifetime coverage but trying to fight the present leadership is like giving vaccines to an adult already crippled by polio, completely useless.

Let me be blunt and use live ammunition here.

1. There is no threat or war against corruption that will stop an Atiku or a Tinubu from handing out cash at the 2019 primaries except if they are not interested. (and I use them as samples because they are in the spotlight).

2. There is no way Buhari will have become President without illicit cash backing so people having hope on the likes of Ribadu should forget it permanently. The question going forward is (the thermometer of the corruption war), will 2019 become more or less cashless.

3. Whether we like it or not Peterside will have delivered better dividends to Rivers than Wike ever would. In fact at the PDP primaries there were better candidates than Wike but, BUT, they could not have defeated the Amaechi machinery. Same for Buhari. They were expedient, necessary, not better. Meaning that the engine of corruption has a reserve tank people don't want to touch. They are willing to tolerate it to get an edge.

And the beat goes on.

Sagay, Ezekwesili, Aribisala clash at round-table on corruption war

By Wahab Abdullah & Gbenga Oke

Scholars and legal experts yesterday in Lagos disagreed over the war against corruption by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The roundtable which was organised by the Department of Jurispudence and International Law tagged “Winning the War Against Corruption” had in attendance keynote speakers which includes; Prof Itse Sagay, Mr Femi Aribisala, Mr Femi Falana who was represented by Wahab Shittu and Dr Oby Ezekwesili.

Speaking at the event, Mr Femi Aribisala described the current fight against corruption by the Buhari administration as selective and only targeting members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

His words, “Before the 2015 elections, we do not have any party presenting us with an anti-corruption mandate. The All Progressives Congress, APC, can be called a makeover of the PDP and since they moved over, they are no more corrupt because they are now in APC. So as far as I am concerned, there was no mandate to fight corruption.

“If President Buhari really meant to fight corruption, he will not form an alliance with the people who he despised before. So today, I don’t know who is fighting the corruption.

“We have to make up our minds if we really want to deal with the question of corruption. If we want to deal with the question of corruption, Nigerians themselves must insist on it and we have to deal with it at the institutional level. The institutional fight against corruption that has taken place to the extent that it has, took place under PDP. The institutional structures, even the ones that the present government is relying on are PDP structures”.

Aribisala further stressed that the budget padding by some government institutions under the watch of the President is part of the corruption.

“If we have this issue of budget padding and after revealing it, you then passed the budget and Nigerians do not know what is in the new budget, you cannot talk of fighting corruption because the budget controversy lacks transparency.”

Reacting to Aribisala’s comment, Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-corruption, Prof Itse Sagay, in his own comments however said the roundtable should not be turned to a PDP campaign ground.

Sagay who was visible angered by Aribisala’s comment said; “How can someone come here and say there is no fight against corruption and everybody will be clapping? The APC had a manifesto and it was clearly written how APC will fight corruption. So people here should not show ignorance”

Sagay went further to caution Aribisala on making statements devoid of facts.
“You don’t take corruption war to a meaningless point. This is a serious discussion. So if Aribisala is anti-government, he should campaign for his party, the PDP to come back in 2019."

He stressed further, “ICPC and EFCC were created by ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo and they are doing well, so we don’t need to create new institutions. You do not win a war by just creating multiplicity of institutions everywhere, that’s irresponsible”.

In his submission, Mr Femi Falana (SAN), said there is need to create special courts to handle corruption cases.
According to him, creation of special courts for corruption cases will make the anti-corruption war more efficient.

Also speaking, a former World Bank Vice President, Dr Oby Ezekwesili said there is no comedy going on rather the youths should rise up to fight against corruption.
According to her, corruption is demonstrated at various levels of government and all works of life.
“For example, everybody was applauding Aribisala after he spoke, the reason why you clapped was because some of you are in your own level of corruption.

“Many of you students whose exams are around the corner are preparing for malpractices. When we talk about the need to wage war on corruption, many people are disconnected completely from what we are talking about” she stated.

“You need to be driven by the evidence of the damage and the destruction that corruption is doing to you at the unit level. If you think you are doing well now, you will do exceedingly better if corruption is effectively tackled in this society,” she said.

I think if President Buhari has really meant to fight corruption people like Obasanjo, IBB, Abdulsalam Abubaka, Abacha's family, Himself (Buhari) should be indicted before turning the eyes of eagle to these unfortunate new generation thieves turn political leaders who has no idea of governance according to Donal Trump. The likes of Akpabio, Amaechi, Tinubu, Kwankwaso. etc should be numbering their days on earth inside krikri by now.
