in comics superheroes have powers that exceed human limits.
flash is super fast
batman super genius
spider man , super strong , agile, etc
wolverine - self healing etc

We've been feasted to these superhuman fictional characters.
What's gonna happen when science or some cult arises and dangles the carrot of some super human ability before man. Something that will make them into the super heroes they've been watching on screen all these years? Humanity will jump for it.

in the story of the demoniac, in the bible, He was strong (though insane and tormented) that chains couldnt bind him!?
Imagine a criminal having such powers and being able to turn it on at will? He'll make a hella a lot of money - super fast.

Or maybe these abilities could be sold to the world through some other technology.
Imagine a brain implant that could give one the power of the internet in his head and is controllable by thought impulses? Kinda like the matrix movie phenomena.

Or the power of levitation or flight , just like superman!
