A middle aged man and official of Federal University Dutsinma, Umar Manu from Dutsinma town of Katsina State is currently being held by the police for allegedly killing his wife, Fatima Ibrahim.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina Stae Command, Usman Abdullahi who confirmed the arrest of the accused, said investigation has commenced, saying that he would brief journalists  upon completion of investigation.

It was gathered that Ibrahim had visited his enstranged wife at her parent’s residence where he allegedly strangled and repeatedly hit her head on the wall leading to her death.

Sources said Ibrahim and the wife had some misunderstanding prompting her to relocate to her parent’s house where she was staying alone except for the local security man.

It was gathered that the suspect occasionally visit the decease but on the ill fated day, the lifeless body of the deceased was found in the house after the suspect had visited and left.

But a source said, “The security man was interrogated and he confirmed that nobody entered the house except the enstranged husband making him the prime suspect”

“He (the suspect) was contacted after and upon thorough interrogation, he confessed to committing the crime but said he never meant to kill her”.

Our source claimed that a black polythene bag containing blood stained clothes of the suspect was recovered.
