Summary/Objective

The CFO position is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the Hospital, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the Hospital's fiscal function and performance.

Participate in the development of the Hospital's plans and programs as a strategic partner.

Evaluate and advise on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.

Develop credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the CEO/President, the Board and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities.

Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the Hospital by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the Hospital.

Establish credibility throughout the Hospital and with the Board as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges.

Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline.

Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting department budgets.

Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the Hospital; i.e., evaluation of potential alliances acquisitions and/or mergers and pension funds and investments.

Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.

Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.

Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the corporation may enter.

Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individuals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position is responsible for the direct supervision of all employees in the accounting and finance department under the supervision of the CEO



WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.



EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.



TRAVEL

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.



REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or a Business discipline

Professional qualification e.g. ICAN, ACCA, ACA

Three to five years related experience ( in a health sector will be an added advantage)




Additional Eligibility Qualifications


Demonstrated experience in financial planning, healthcare operations and analysis with previous experience overseeing human resources, information technology, and legal.

Skilled in organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning.

Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team.

Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to corporate mission.

Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems.

Independent and strong Entrepreneurial attitude, Global thinker, Self-starter, Good analytical skills.
