Below is my timeline with a twist to it Country Applying from – Nigeria TLS centre –V.I 15th June 2016- online application submitted 21st June- Biometrics at V.I 24th June- Sponsor (Husband’s) supporting documents sent to Sheffield 27th June- Email from UKVI acknowledging application received NO interview 14th Sept- Decision Made Email from UKVI (12 weeks and a day) 15th sept –Sponsor’s documents returned to my husband 21st Sept- No decision made email from TLS (till date…lol. 7 days after receiving decision made email. Got worried and decided to go to TLS, got there, they said my passport/documents wasn't available yet as it hasn’t been sent back to them, she can see from the system that it hasn’t been dispatched and she doesn’t know when it will so I just have to wait till whenever I get an email. Wow. Now I got worried and spoke to my Husband updating him…we both got worried wondering so where is my passport? As the Decision made email from ukvi says “will be despatched shortly and available for collection within 3-5 days or you will get notified by the VAC when it is ready for collection”. Well its 7 whole days and VAC knows nothing. Same day my husband finally was able to go pick up his sponsor’s documents from the post office as it’s been there since 15th Sept. On picking up his parcel, it was heavier than expected and Yes UKVI sent my passport (with the visa stamped & Letter) & my documents to my husband! Very strange…. no precedence like this on any forum we had read nor were we duly notified that this would be the case. Visa was stamped 9th Sept. Now we concluded that perhaps it was sent to him because while filling the online application form as well as writing his sponsor’s cover Letter & extra sheet from me, we indicated that we would be travelling together; that is he would come to Nigeria and pick me. So we thought maybe that’s why they sent it to him instead…. still weird though. Also decided to share documents we submitted APPLICANTS DOCUMENTS • International Passports • Application form • Appendix 2 form • Photocopies of visa pages on passport • Bank Statement (not necessary really) • NARIC English Assessment (if you don’t want to write the IELTS test and you are a graduate you can go through NARIC route by sending them your degree certificate (must be a 4 year course and above),Transcript and a letter from your school confirming you studied there and you were taught in English during the duration of your study and they will assess and give you a English level satisfactory letter. cost 54 pounds including posting the letter to Nigeria). • TB screening Result • Hotel receipt printouts for all our vacations together for the past 4 years • Flight ticket printouts • MoneyGram receipts • Affidavit of Spinsterhood • Degree certificates and other educational certificates • Marriage certificates photocopies (trad, white and court, original was sent in by my husband) • Screenshot evidence of call log (whatsapp log), Skype, whatsapp, Skype, BBM, chats screenshots.(minimum 6 months for the whatsapp record and Skype records. Just keep screenshoting to cover 6 months record then print out these screenshots) • Screenshots of Instagram hashtags of friends of our wedding. • Pictures of my husband, myself and the mutual friend that introduced us • Some email communication between me and my husband and photos from 2012(the year we met) • Some email communication btw me and my husband and photos from 2013 • -Some email communication btw me and my husband from 2014 • Some email communication btw me and my husband and photos from 2015(including proposal pictures) • Some email communication btw me and my husband and photos from 2016(till June 2016 when we made the plan) • Wedding photos • Honeymoon photos • Copy of wedding IV • Birthday card from my husband • Detailed extra sheet to explain anything worth explaining (We literally communicate via as much online communication platform as we can have… so we had enough emails for each month from the start of our relationship in 2012 June till 2016 June that we submitted our application. Enough evidence to “prove” the relationship is subsisting). It was a lot of paperwork but well worth it in the end. SPONSOR’S DOCUMENTS • Cover/introductory letter • 7 months pay slips • 7 months bank statement • P60 • Detailed Letter from Employer • Employment contract • Council Tax • Water & electricity bills • Data Page of husband’s British & Nigerian passports • Visa pages, flight ticket printouts. • Tenancy agreement (old and new: new had my name included in it, accompanied with a letter from the Letting Agency (letter of permission) • Greeting Card. We hope this helps someone out there. All the best. 6 Likes |
