Can refineries be built over night?

Private should not wait for government. They should start building.

Oga. Nobody will invest to compete with government. Heck, there is not even an intent thoughtless of a policy framework and the fact that your President doubles as the oil minister clearly indicates government has no intention of letting go. Dangote is taking a major, major gamble that could ruin him if care is not taken.

The government is aware that at the controlled price, these marketers still make good profit. It may not be the obscene amount they use to make before but it is still very good.

Greedy marketers.

These stakeholders are the ones sabotaging government efforts. They dont want the queue to disappear because of their own personal gains.

Hmmm. Nonsense/
What about the privatization of power? I didn't see any progress.

This is not surprising, given that the transmission network (PHCN) wasn't privatized, nor were the discos and gencos given the freedom to charge market rates. There is no difference between the "privatization" that happened with power and what is going on in the petroleum sector right now - the government still tries to call all the shots, and then turns around and acts surprised when private operators refuse to step in and throw their money away on loss-making activities.

Dear Ben Murray Bruce, While you were busy making common sense on Twitter, the Calabar - Lagos Rail Project which would have yielded enormous economic benefits to the people of your region - the South South, was expunged from the 2016 budget. Sir, where lies the sense in your "common sense" when your constituents and region have been cheated so brazenly by your colleagues in the National Assembly?

Oga if ur excuse for ur own failure is someone else's supposed failure, den u are simply an idiotic failure.. Yes there was a crippling scarcity especially in the last month's of the last administration but atleast there was a clear reason being dat marketers were being owed their subsidy claims... Atleast a sensible govt would have been proactive enof to have learnt lessons from dat experience and have a clear cut solution at hand whether temporal or permanent.. Kip making excuses for ur mediocrity and watch urself wallow deeper into d abyss of foolishness.

I have a question too ask?is the country too big for president Buhari?when APCC came into power citizen where expecting much from the president after boosting and boasting that he could change or stabilize the county within 3month,now its getting close to a year.Nigerians are not happy with the socio-economic and political development in the country, adding that it was imperative for government to address the sufferings and expectations of the people and make them happy they just sit watch and go on media saying all soft of satisfactory wordsthat will not help
we cited the current petrol scarcity, poor electricity and hunger as some of the hardships being experienced by Nigerians.more especially we cited the current petrol scarcity, day to day 100 of cars queue just too get fuel at worst held for hour even some do over night and the president expect nigerian too be silenced about it.we are one off the largest exporting oil country in the world and the largest in west africa but yet that those not seem to make impact in the country. The question remains id the country too big for our president too handle?

D situation is frustrating enof but yet some morons want to kip clinging on straws.. Till dis very day d govt is yet to giv us a clear reason for the persisting scarcity.. It's common knowledge dat our refineries have been comatose for ages which is why marketers came in.. Yet dis govt kips making excuses using the refineries and playing politics with it. Today we hear it's working tomorrow it's partially working and d nxt minute denials all over.

It is a common place in this country that a public servant who left an agency decades ago can come to public to make absurd statements as if he knows anything about how the system works currently.
A Tam David west deceived Buhari during the campaign as a "former petroleum minister" circulating m0r0nic texts to Nigerians without a clue of how the process works presently, guess what? his inspiration came from 1984 and he is making statements in 2015.
This country needs prayers!!
