From Bamigbola Gbolagunte, Akure

THE Yoruba ethnic militia, Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) has threatened to attack Fulani herdsmen in Yoruba land, especially Ondo State if they don’t stop threatening the peace of Yoruba land and its people.

Specifically, the OPC lamented the incessant attack on the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae by suspected Fulani herdsmen, saying its members are ready for a show down with the Fulani herdsmen should the situation persists.

Some suspected Fulani hersmen had last Friday invaded Falae’s farm located in Ilado via Akure and allegedly killed one of the security guards attached to the farm.

Incidentally, the security guard allegedly killed by the Fulani herdsmen on Falae’s farm identified as Ayodele Ige was the Co-ordinator of the OPC in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.

Apparently worried by the development, the OPC warned Fulani herdsmen in Ondo State and in Yoruba land in general to desist from attacking their kismen or face their wrath.

The OPC in a statement issued by its state co-ordinator, Mr Pius Ogunsanya said “the heartless murder of Ayodele Ige would not be allowed to be swept under the carpet like many several other innocent people killed across the country by Fulani herdsmen.”

The statement reads in part “It is particularly worrisome that these people have continued their killings across the country without any major condemnation by the Federal Government. It is even more worrisome that the innocent victims were brutally murdered for daring to challenge the Fulani herdsmen for grazing and destroying their farmlands.”

“It is strange that the security agencies have found it difficult to put an end to these wicked acts by Fulani herdsmen despite repeated cases of killings and arson against them from all over the country.”

“The story is the same from Enugu to Edo, Akokoland to Oke Ogun and other parts of the country.

“Information available to us was that Ige was abducted by the Fulani herdsmen after many attempts their efforts to enter into Chief Falae’s farm were repelled by our members who have been watching over the farm after the abduction of Chief Falae by these same people.”

“The attack by the Fulani herdsmen on the property of a Yoruba leader cannot be allowed to continue,” “For us, the killing of one of us is an attack on all of us, much more when that person is a leader. Let it be known that we have taken this path of peace, not because of cowardice or because of the fear of these people. We want a peaceful, equitable and united Nigeria, which is the pillar of our struggle. But we can no longer bear it that the blood and sweat of our people are continually used to appease Nigeria.”

Some groups are more civilised than others. It doesn't make them cowards. Not everybody has the illiterate, barbaric and savage bloodthirsty brutality of the Fulani. People who are more enlightened try to be civil and diplomatic before engaging in violent retaliation.

Bros, u can call the yorubas coward but that's exactly what they were called when biafra, june12 and other fierce violence started. If they retaliate, it always brutal.

They are issuing this warning so it won't be as if when they fight back, such warning were not given at the first place.

Tinubu prides himself as the undisputed leader of APC,let him and his cohorts in APC use their offices to call out Mr.President, before Nigeria completely breaks-up in this regime.
There has never been a time Nigeria is this divided, from North to South,East to West, there is disaffection and in some instances, there is pronounced bitterness. This is really not a good time to thread tackles on ethnic lines,we are gradually loosing this country, simply because we have a head that is not mentally and psycological ready to lead this nation out of the quagmire we found ourselves.
Mr president lost it long ago,he encounraged tribalism, nepotism, religious bias through his unguided utterances,he seems to be obsolete, archaic and too unrefined to run a 21st century Nigeria. How can the citizenry be begging its leadership to condemn the massacre of Nigerians by Fulani herdsmen, this is the height of recklessness and gross irresponsibility.....i fear for my dear country,we are gradually loosing it.
Nigeria!a paradise lost!

That's why the Yoruba's are different, to be civil is not cowardice and if u think so, then ask your forefathers who conquered the Biafra land, or better still, asked people how the Yorubas got their mandate back in 1999 after June 12 1993 annulment, maybe u were not yet born then, u will be told.

Empty Yoruba chest beaters
Always issuing warning not taking action

They should take a cue from what Bini boys did to those Fulani marauders last week in Okada town, all the Fulani herdsmen in Okada town and it's environ have fled the area, the Bini boys burnt down all the Fulani herdsmen settlement in Okada towns and it's environ. They have already declared Hausa Fulani Herdsmen persona non grata in Okada town.
We for Niger Delta n South South no dey carry last, we go treat Fulani herdsmsen Bleep-up as e dey hot.we no dey issue any form of warning, na to unleash Confra boyz and militants on top every bomboclaat Fulani herdsman and their cows.
The Bini boys didn't issue any warning, they took action.
Yoruba people have been issuing warning since 1960 without taking action, see the way Hausa disgrace and massacred Yoruba in their own back yard of Mile 12 Lagos last month.

Yoruba people should for Once rise up to the occasion face these hausa fulani marauders eye ball to eyeball and take action and stop issuing warning everyday.
Na warning we wan chop
Who warning EPP?

Agreed with you sir!!!
I can assure, that is going to happen very soon and it's not going to be in Yoruba land alone, it will happen across all of the southern Nigeria since the government of the day has paid a zero attention to the matter.
