If I had suicidal tendencies, possibly!!!! Or if a guy I know is dating a boo that I love, I could convince him to replicate this practice, then I take my leg off the ladder(hoping he does not survive the impact)!!!!

That is very simple and reasonable, the weight of the guy fixing the AC can never be more than the two guys on the other side. But they could have simply just look for a longer ladder to stand from the ground
