28DAYS OF STRIKE WITH NO HOPE, A LOT FROM THE STUDENTS ARM WILL HAPPEN SOON IF THIS STRIKE IS NOT CALLED OFF WITHIN 14 WORKING DAYS.
17/04/2016.
.
If the Governor Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha second tenure led administration and the leadership of ASUU IMSU CHAPTER feel that their interest is much bigger to jeopardize the interest of over 27,000 students of Imo State University who are being shortchanged of their right to have equal opportunity, I wish they get ready to kill all of us, rusticate all of us, shoot their usual tear gas with which ever security operatives they will want to use on us because we have ran out of patience and have also exhausted every medium which have appealed to their conscience to bring us back to school. We have duly consulted and consolidated and this is time to confront which ever body that is keeping us at home for close to one month now when our fellow Nigerian students are in school.
.
We are not unaware that our governor has put us in reckless abandon having traveled out of the country for close to 3times since our only state owned university embarked on strike. We are not also unaware that we are being treated badly in our own father land as our governor and visitor to the school has abandoned us and concentrated on his newly built private University which could have cost him close to N1billion in securing the NUC license, certification and the numerous completed infrastructures built in his EASTERN PALM UNIVERSITY OGBOKO CAMPUS but he rather prefer to give excuses on why he can’t fund our school properly and pay our lecturers their due salaries.
.
I totally condemn the action of Imo State Government and ASUU in not considering the student’s welfare and the security challenges we have been facing in our various hostels especially the 100 level students who have not written their first semester examination and could not travel back to their respective homes due to their financial conditions since the strike commenced.
.
I feel this is a collaborated sabotage on the academic pursuit of the entire students of Imo State University from those at the helm of affairs.
.
I am not happy at all even though I have been among the few student leaders calming our students down, giving them hope and visiting several alliances on daily basis just to prevent them from executing their actions. I therefore call on all well meaning IMO Stars who take their academics serious and who knows that education will always play a major role to advance whatever they wish to become in the nearest future to rise up to their feet and stand against this neglect on us. Just like the saying goes, inside Aluta, there is no gentle man.
.
This is the time to put all our failed appeals into action! let the spirit of aluta come down! IMO stars, it’s time to say no to this lingering strike!
.
From a deeply concerned Imo Star,
Chukwunenye Maduabuchi Stanley.
Senator MAF, Computer Science.
G5 Chairman, Bring Back Imsu Sug Team 2015.

MAKE SURE YOU SHARE THIS POST TO ALL IMO STARS!

IMSU and ugly stories.
You said 27,000 students of IMSU, Owerri. Add that to about 30,000 from FUTO, Owerri. Add that to about 18,000 from PolyNekede Owerri.
Add that to about 12,000 from ImoPoly Umuagwor closest to Owerri. Add the sum to the number of staff in all of these institutions in Owerri. Add their families.

Even an O-Level Town Planner must tell you that there must be problems for any state government with having this large number of educational institutions with the large population of youths in a small city like Owerri.

This governor, like all his predecessors tried everything to relocate IMSU to a more conducive environment for learning. But those who refused to see that Owerri is not all there is in Imo state consistently refused.

So long IMSU remains located in its present site, so long IMSU is most likely to have problems irrespective of who governs Imo state. During Ohakim's tenure, IMSU was like closed for nearly one-quarter of his tenure.

Stop commenting out of context. how does owing of salary affect geographical location of an institution

If IMSU problems draw sympathy from larger population of Imo people, there's likely to be an uproar against government over any IMSU problems, problems including owing salaries to IMSU staff, and problems of inadequate facilities for students, etc.

IMSU problems draw little or no sympathy from majority of Imo people.

Because Owerri-born Evan Enwerem's location of IMSU in Owerri was against all known logic, given that then, FUTO, Alvan university, Polynekede, were all there in Owerri, short distances from one another.

Enwerem used his guber powers to defy all reasonable people, defy all logics that made Nigeria government create states, including even development, defied all reasonable people who pleaded with him to locate IMSU in other areas outside Owerri where facilities were already available then. Enwerem and his Owerri people refused and had IMSU located in Owerri.

You will agree with me that since then, IMSU has suffered. No government has been willing to develop its infrastructure. It has remained with 'thatched' housing, it was nearly closed all the time Ohakim was governor.

A university has to have the goodwill of those who sponsor it to survive. Imo government sponsor IMSU on behalf of citizens of Imo state. Truth is that majority of Imo people do not have good will for IMSU because of its location. And because Enwerem and his group took the rest of Imo state who objected to locating IMSU at Owerri as irrelevant, not having much stake on the affairs of Imo state.

From 1999 till date, IMSU has generated much acrimony in Imo state. Ohakim as governor described IMSU as a pigsty.

Relocate IMSU to a more acceptable site in Imo state, at best, leave a few departments at present location. That's the guarantee that IMSU shall stop having ill will from its sponsors, that's the way for a peaceful study environment to enable generation of money to add to what the state government has to provide for regular payment of salaries to IMSU staff, as well as develope building infrastructure befitting for a university for IMSU.
