The CBN Recruitment Scandal And Mr.President's Deafening Silence. by OLADD: 2:22pm On Apr 20, 2016 |
President Buhari, according to many Nigerians who reposed (and still exude) so much confidence in his anti-corruption postures is a man of integrity. It was on that premise, reasonably or not that millions of citizens trooped out enmass to cast their votes for him and his party, the APC in the March 2015 presidential election. Eleven months on the saddle post-inauguration, a lot has indeed taken place under this towering figure seen as the trailblazer for a modern-day corruption-free Nigeria that has indeed made many tongues to wag. One of such happenings was the secret and unofficial recruitment that took place in the CBN involving children and relatives of members of the ruling class. Looking at the vigour and intensity with which the President and the EFCC have been pursuing the Dasukigate offenders, one would have expected that by now heads should have rolled in droves at the apex bank in one of the scandals that portend grave danger not only for the Federal Character provisions of our Constitution but one that has potential to rub mud on the anti-corruption garment of Buhari and his government. What should really call for our concern and serious attention was the criminal nature of the recruitment whereby names of the employees were manipulated and distorted to coverup their true identities and those of their parents. If such brazen act of criminality does not attract the attention of Mr. President and his anti-corruption agencies, we may now begin to redefine what truly stands as corruption in Nigeria. For a president that ordered immediate sack of those involved in the budget padding saga, sweeping the CBN recruitment scandal under the carpet as if nothing untoward had happened should be a cause of worry for those who truly love Nigeria. If the anti-corruption drive of Buhari's administration is truly holistic and non-selective as the president and his media aides make us to believe, Mr. President as a matter of urgency, should forward the names of all those involved in the CBN recruitment scandal to the EFCC for immediate prosecution. In the same vein, all the employees involved should be summarily dismissed for sanity to reign in the CBN and public sector at large. Anything short of that will continue to cast a shadow on Mr.President's integrity status and genuine fight against corruption. CC: Lalasticlala. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Bros I really enjoyed ur writeup not just cos of its content but for the articulate presentation of ur grammar meeting all d yardstick of a scholar, a quality really lacking amongst most online commentators & even some media outfits whose stock in trade is to abuse and insult others with their whacked out mentality and logic. Good tense construction , rule of concord and proximity are all essential ingredients in a good article and all these can be found in ur essay. As informative as it might be dont be too disappointed with some pathological zombies that might try to defend d selective disposition of Mr anti-corruption czar. Only time will tell. Just correct 'enmass' to 'en masse' and d sauce will be a JAMB certified essay. Proud of u and hope d powers dat be push this to FP. |

Mr.President is not only silent on the CBN recruitment, he is silent also on the Police lopsided promotion, on the Security and Defense staff who are all northerners, on Fulani Herdsmen killing every body in the Southern part of Nigeria, on the notoriously reckless and irresponsible Grazing Bill, on why the Senate President is being unnecessarily impeded from performing his constitutional duty because of political witch hunting, victimization and intimidation and so on. This is no longer democracy. We look like going back to 1984 and to psychopathic feudalism. 3 Likes |

SERAP once threatened when the news went viral. I knew it was an empty threat. Why won't the secret recruitment continue, when nobody is querying who. Rather than those jobless SINators address things that affect the masses they represent, they would prefer to shamelessly follow their accused SP. 1 Like 1 Share |

egalitarian78: Many thanks for the compliments. Moreover, articles of this nature (here on Nairaland or elsewhere) are not for self-serving purposes but one's contribution toward making Nigeria a better place for all of us. Whether the people from other side of the divide agree with us or not is inconsequential. We will continue to propagate the truth no matter whose ox is gored. Once again, thanks. |

nanya124: I just don't know what's happening to many of these so-called Anti-corruption crusaders. CACOL (Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders) were the first to raise alarm on Fashola's WEBSITE and Borehole scandal only for them to go to sleep after the initial gragra. Why do they normally start what they can't finish or are they all-out for self-gratification? 1 Like |

You think such recruitment can be made in CBN without his authorization? Remember his nephew was also employed although the media, which APC has seriously bribed, hid that from you. Since Buhari came to power, over 70% of those employed in govt are Hausa/Fulani leaving Yoruba and others with very little but i'm always very surprised why the south west media keeps painting him as the best thing that has happened to Nigeria despite the suffering in the land. |

AirFireEarthH20: Nigerian media has already been sold to the highest bidder but we know who calls the shot. However, I still find it difficult to fathom how people can sell their integrity and conscience for money and mundane things. Only God can move this country forward with this level of sycophancy and deceits. |

Mr. President has been silent on many issues of grave national importance. His styles are just becoming apparent to most of his supporters (like me) who did not really experience his first coming as a military head-of-state but have relied on narratives. Some of his media comments have also been disappointingly depressing. I have concluded he is not really a champion of talakawas as he was packaged to us in the build-up to 2015 elections. With all evidences available to us today he is not living or acting like a President of suffering people. He is not going to condemn the back-door recruitment nor do anything about it. He is obviously selective in things he attends to. He is not as sensitive as we were made to believe. |
Re: The CBN Recruitment Scandal And Mr.President's Deafening Silence. by blackpanda: 5:26pm On Apr 21, 2016 |
Mr President must not comment on every single issue. Even in Dasuki's case, the president usually refrains from direct comment to allow our agencies do their job. That said. I think that recruitment shld be cancelled asap and perpetrators be brought to book. This is a case for our cvos to push forward and enforce accountability. Hush-hush recruitment is not a new thing in nigeria. But its high time we stop it. |

blackpanda: Who told you the President was silent on Dasuki case? Were you not in the country when he passed a verdict of no-bail on Dasuki during his maiden media chat on NTA? He only keeps mute whenever he's caught pants down or whenever his integrity mantra is put to test. Stop defending an insincere president. OK? |
