For those who do not know, If Umar stands down as CCT chairman, the presidency will have to nominate a name to the Senate (headed by same Saraki) to approve the judge.
Now let us use simple logic, if Saraki get his prayer for Umar to stand down, knowing his antecedence, he is going to delay the approval of anybody sent by the presidency and probably strike a deal with who ever he finally approves. Then the whole case will start all over and saraki will once again debate the eligibility of the CCT to try and go all the way to the supreme court and back again.
All lovers of justice know that Saraki despite his claim of being happy the trial is starting does not want to face justice, he wants it solve the political way.

Saraki cannot be allowed to appoint a judge that will eventually try him.

That's the man who knows the Constitution. Your story is mere witch hunting. The NASS makes the laws for the Judiciary to interpret. The interpretation must comply with the spirit with which the laws were made. The President is elected. The NASS is elected.The Judiciary isn't. And for this, the Constitution provides a Compromise by which Mr. President nominates only the CJN and the NASS accepts or rejects such nomination and suggests replacement in case of rejection. Apart from the CJN, all other Judicial appointments including Umar, should be the responsibility of the Judicial Commission. The Spirit is such that compromises , combinations and integrations should be done very smoothly that no Tier of the Government is unduly impeded in the execution of its responsibilities. Saraki s case is political and a political compromise and surrender must get him out fast to enable him do his duties very well. Other wise, THE NASS has Power to expel Umar and replace him with their own Certified Judge.

So basically, you are saying Umar should declare himself guilty of an accusation not proven by any court. He was never prosecuted.
